what in the world is killing me?
Just ran an exarch map (t11....) and died 5 times. Feel free to check out my character, needless to say I am ultra tanky with a TON of mitigation AND avoidance and damn good gear.
I kept getting one shot to random mobs in the map before I could blink. Didn't seem like a degen, mods on the map were not terrible, but I was getting shafted left and right. What in the world could do THAT much piercing damage? I survive perfectly fine up to wave 30 in sims and yet I can't handle a t11 exarch map with no damage mods? I am genuinely curious Last bumped on Mar 29, 2022, 1:49:27 AM

Only thing I can think of without a video is the burning ground dropped on exarch minion death altar mod.
That damage is...not balanced. |

I would recommend not RMTing for gear and a build first off. It's pretty obvious. Then you can learn the game and understand what is going on. :)

You have that gear and still doing T11 maps at level 92? What is happening here :)
As for why you are dying, eldritch altars have some dangerous modifiers. Coupled with additional map modifiers, you can get blown to bits if you aren't paying attention. And although the build is tanky, you have very little regen and are still susceptible to bleed (this one caught me off guard once or twice, my only deaths). |

" +1. its not often obvious when people do it, but in this case it is. |

How are you tanky if you die to one shots? For T11, capped resists + 10k armor and 4k hp should be more then enough to avoid all one shots.
If you're running Searing Exarch maps, unalocate the passive that makes you take 10% increased damage per activated altar. After 5 altars, pretty much everything becomes "piercing damage". Last edited by 6_din_49#4066 on Mar 28, 2022, 6:53:41 AM

I'll say three things and leave it there:
1) I was an idiot: it was an ele reflect map and I stupidly was using my frostblink...totally didn't notice since I rarely have to deal with reflect at all. Just ran into it AGAIN today and finally caught on to my own stupidity. 2) Before you jump on the RMT accusations, perhaps check my history...I've been playing this game since the beta. I can make tons and tons of currency in the first few weeks just crafting gear, farming valuable uniques, and flipping flasks. I tend to make far more money than actual progress in the game to get ready for my souped up characters like my current one that starts to clear content. Don't need 4 voidstones or all t16 maps to make money...I don't play standard so most of my old characters are deleted or rotting. *It also helps to have friends that pass off their old gear. **I can't believe I have to defend myself against this...In 10 years I've never been accused of RMT and I get it twice in one of the very first help threads I've ever written lol. Gotta love the helpful PoE community! 3) The fact that I DO have experience is precisely why I made this thread. I couldn't figure out what was killing me, I know how to properly stack defenses with or without Mageblood, I know what I am weak to (degens), etc. I ran for a long time without dying and then died repeatedly all at once and it happened to be one of the first exarch maps I chose to do. But as I said, it was all moot: just a classic stupid repeated mistake. Last edited by jsuslak313#7615 on Mar 28, 2022, 3:28:32 PM

Reflect was the first thing I thought of. Ignore the haters, especially since none of them even thought to say reflect, which if you play this game enough then you've definitely died to it a few times (lazy mod reading or put in the wrong map, etc.). I've seen quite a few streamers (guys with many thousands of hours played) die to accidental reflects.
