better grasping vine with clear visual feedback than stun with no feedback, given the impression of the game being bugged cause your char doesn't move when you click.

" stun you can counter with stun avoidance. grasping vines there is no counter, unless you're a juggernaut. even if they break off when you use a dash skill, i instantly get them back and my dash will be on cooldown and then i just die because standing still = instadeath on a class like ranger after they decited force us to spend 19 points for some spell suppression. i dont understand how the devs go like "hey lets just add this super annoying mechanic into our game that nobody likes and does nothing but piss people off and increase the frequency of which you get it and the debuff effect of it" when the game clearly is bleeding players and a lowest player retention rate ever. " I had to highlight a bit to point a few things out about Grasping Vines. First things first, I do agree that Grasping Vines is an annoying and deadly mechanic, but you mentioned its most direct counter: Movement skills If you don't run Dash with Second Wind, you are using it fairly badly as it covers very little distance. You're better off using Flame Dash at that point, for the extra charges in combat and longer travel distance. Blink Arrow also exist, if you are wielding bows, and given that you've stated that you get the grasping vine stacks instantly, I presume you have a fast firing bow If you're melee, then whirling blades is still a thing, better than dash in most circumstances. Also, if we remove Shroud Walker and Grasping Vines, why not remove Proximity SHield too? Annoying after all. Might as well remove reflect and how dare they make us liable for dying with Corrupted Blood stacking faster than I can sneeze? They're there, to kill you, to put you out of your comfort zone, or to pay attention to it. If you get grasping vine stacks fast, better pay attention to your movement skill cooldowns. As much as the mechanic "pisses you off", it's exactly designed to do just that. To "piss you off" into a death :) |

Heh, I actually had a Scion build all planned out this league, ended up playing Juggs for the immunity to grasping vines (it's all well and good to say just use a movement skill, but that's not always an option. Maybe (to give a specific example from my scion), you find yourself mid-heist in some narrow pathways area, limited space behind, ahead still closed off, where there literally isn't a spot to dash to/the mob's got all options covered. So yeah, agree with the sentiment. Even just a single counter on the tree would be fine (even if it's hidden in a mastery node), otherwise, well, good thing I like Juggs I guess, 'cause I suspect that's all I'll be playing 'til there is another counter option...
