Non-MTX cosmetics based on regular drops
Artistic fancier cosmetics are OK to have a price but not everybody can invest as much in the game so what about having a D3-like cosmetic NPC?
That way we would fashion our characters in some way based on the drops we get. Like I could change the tabula for an iron armor-based chest piece and so on. Should be free to use or at least not currency-based, time-based seems right. Cheers Last bumped on Mar 22, 2022, 7:12:11 AM

While I understand the gripe, in all fairness to GGG, apart from more stashing room, Cosmetics is their sole source of income, so they wouldn't let customize their character for free, when you can already play a fully fleshed out game for free.
Yes, one argues that you always end up buying stash tabs, because they give you a lot more quality of life, but you still get to play the full experience of the game for free. Heck, I played trough the whole game on 4 stash tabs for years, until I found a sale that tickled me fancy. Apart from that, putting the cosmetic appearnce of an item onto another does exist, and it's about the cheapest thing in the game. Sure, it's not a permanent mtx in your place, you lose an item, and it's a consumeable, but at the end of the day, GGG also needs to make money, so no chance of seeing a D3-esque tailor, sorry. |

I would still keep buying supporter packs anyways, that is why I see this as an option. But I think your point is that doing this would discourage players from buying more MTX, well that is not true.
Show any research for what you are saying and I will change my mind. cheers |

" Research? This isn't a point made by research, but following basic human behaviour about choice, while also giving you a perspective on business. On an ironic sidenote: Since you already confessed about going to buy supporter packs anyway, regardless if an MTX-NPC would be implemented or not, as a business, why would I then bother making one in the first place, if I can sell you premiums? Do give away things for free, especially one that conflicts directly with your main income (Cosmetics), an incentive has to be reached or a change of mind has to occur within the consumer (Us like me and you). But we already buy cosmetics as is, so, nothing to "gain" here. FOr the people that never plan to buy cosmetics, giving them free cosmetics does nothing. From a business-standpoint, that's very nice, but ultimately, a waste of labour that doesn't inherently generate you income. And then there is the people that are just shy of buying / not buying. But the NPC guy only offers you cosmetic outlook of items that you can't buy in the points shop, so that kinda doesn't persuade them to buy something in there directly, but rather, use the free option as much as possible and be happy with that. At best, and this is a number that is pulled literally out of a gut-feeling, you'd have one half buying cosmetics after all, and the other half being less inclined to buy, because, the free option is good enough. And thus you end up on ground neutral again, and won nothing overall, thus wasted labour once more. I get that not everyone has the financial means to dump money into a game for artificial "look goods", but don't forget that PoE sticks with being free 2 play and enjoy game, offers regular sales, and the supporter packs are not a bad deal. I will say however, it would be nice to have a sort of permanent MTX converter thing instead of the consumeable one, at a much bigger premium. Like, for instance, I do like the look of Quill rain, it's cool looking, and occassionally I slap it onto a main bow of mine. I'd be okay with shelling out 100+ ish points (the cost of a regular weapon skin here and there) to have "Quill Rain MTX" as a permanent one in my microtransaction stash. That's probably the closest we would ever get towards using MTX of items onto our characters more often. Edit: Fun fact, looking at how the basic gear looks like in PoE2, you may already have your wish granted, as it looks soooo much nicer there, than the scrappy-looking stuff we have now :D Last edited by Rakushi#4150 on Mar 21, 2022, 9:06:55 PM

lol show your research. lmfao.
in all seriousness, the game needs more unlockables tho. they did this with the korean hat last time, awarded by killing kitava? cant recall. getting thematic cosmetics (once per account) should actually increase the likely hood of people buying cosmetics. oh cool i got this kitava horn back attachment? let me see what armor i can match it with. what about this solaris/lunaris shield emblem? dominus mask? etc having achievable mtxs from the campaign as well as atlas achievements can really push players to complete the game. also it would allow harder content to exist with a significant reward which has zero impact to player progress. " There are MMO games that give free MTX and still sell more MTX on top. There you have a bit, pointing to the opposite. Because doing this kicks the ball Waiting for PoE 2 fosho! I do buy MTX that I like but also bought some because the game is fun for me and I wanted to give some support to GGG devs. QoL is a good tactic, but that they have to do in the current times. |
