'Farming Currency'

Anyone else feels like after few weeks into the League the phrase 'farming currency' loses it's original meaning because the value of the 'medium' currency plummets a lot?

Jewelers 20 = 1.4c
Alts 20 = 2.9c
Chromatics 20 = 2.2.c
Cartographers 20 = 1.9c (this is somewhat sad, because they were usually pretty pricey)
Alchs 20 = 2c

Sure some other currencies like Regrets, Vaals, Ancients, Divines, Fusings are still somewhat valuable, but I still remember leagues not so long ago where alts were 5-6c per stack even 2 months into the League. Jewelers and Chromatics were always valuable then. They were all still pretty valuable in Heist league, maybe even later, but the last I personally remember is Heist.

So why has currency become so devalued? What do you think?

Because the game throws them at you?

Regret orbs are currently the cheapest currency my loot filter detects. Big QOL decision there.

And now you get stacks of currency.

The game almost always gave a lot of this lower-tier currency, so what I think has happened is that the unwashed masses are gone.

PoE economy has always worked in the way that the top ~2 % farm a ton of stuff and the average players, the unwashed masses, buy it from them (or as in case of currency, indirectly through bots).

Now, the top 2 % is still farming as hard as ever, but the middle tier of the playerbase is gone, so there's a ton of supply and no demand, hence value plummets.

What's worth picking up has just changed. Scarabs, Eldritch currencies, essences. Still lots of clicking for those who love to click.

Alts and such have devalued even though they're still useful because they drop in stacks. I used to take alts off my filter but now that they drop 4 at at time it's worth the click to me. Stacked currency drops has been the best change in the game in the last two years IMO lol.

Yeah, the top 2% most definitely spend all their time farming chisels and alchs

People who "farm currency" dont even show those medium currencies in their loot filter, unless its stack of 5 or more.

Given they finally drop in stacks, I would guess that a lot more do than they did before.

I juice my maps pretty well with beyond blights an so many sh@ts...I still pick lower level currency, because it's not the first time I started a new char mid league and ended up not having the basic currency...

And trading for them it's stupid cuz no one replies.

Wish we had a damn AH
