Do Forbidden flame/flesh jewels work? At all? Indicator?

Greetings!

I've socketed in two matching forbidden flesh and forbidden flame jewels to obtain the Guardian ascendancy passive Unwavering Crusade for my Hiero totem build. However, there is no indication whatsoever that the ascendancy point is actually allocated?

No DPS increase or attack speed increased on character sheet
No tooltip change
No indicator of any skill point selected
Nothing

Supposedly, since totems count as allies, they should have 20% IAS and 30% increased area of effect but.....???? Can't tell.

Is this how these jewels are supposed to work? DO they even work?

Simply put, Unwavering Crusade doesn't work with totems.

That's because they copy your skill with your stats and Unwavering Crusade doesn't boost you, only your allies. Technically totems get those bonuses but they don't apply to skills totem use (cus this is your skills).
