Wording is important?
I have been playing this game for years. I really appreciate how in depth you can really get. I learn something new every time I play. The most important lesson I ever learned was "Pay attention to the wording". I have made many mistakes not paying enough attention.
Today I learned another valuable lesson. The wording is not always correct. Today I bought a Forbidden Shako Great Crown. I've been saving up all league and was finally able to afford one with the supported gems I was looking for. Then I take my Divine orb which states "Then my heart dropped. Well, the Shako does say the rolls are (25-35). Why would I have any reason to think it would reroll all of the Unique modifiers? I'm not asking for pity or a replacement. I'm asking for a solution to prevent this from happening. The wording on a divine orb specifically stated it would change the numerical values. Last bumped on Mar 10, 2022, 7:52:48 AM

when you hold alt on the forbidden shako and look at the ranges, how does the mod come up in-game? Does it say the specific skill, or does it have a placeholder when you do extended info. Genuinely curious because I've never played with a shako directly in-game.
On the wiki and item description, the mod itself is a random skill level AND a random number skill, and since the skill is picked by a random number then it stands to reason the divine orb randomizes THAT numeric value as well. ex: the actual mod reads as "15-25 level of skill #1-133" or something like that. The description in the game should be (when you hold alt and check extended info): Socketed Gems are Supported by Level (15-25)(1-133) Showing that both numerical values are randomized with a divine orb. |

So the exact text states
" Which I now understand the roll between skills. Though the Divine states only "Numeric Value". I understood the item as the skills were random rolls only for the drop and the numeric value was rollable. Again, my mistake but it was very unclear to me and I'm sure others have done the same thing. BTW- I like your idea of adding the (1-133) on the skills side. It would make it more clear that would roll also Last edited by Matchewe#2801 on Mar 9, 2022, 2:37:46 PM

yea thats definitely misleading. It should have the number there, or explicitly say on the item "using a divine orb will change the supported skills"

" That solves it for Shako but still leaves the issue of ring sizes for Thread of Hope, whatever any timeless jewel points to for leader etc etc. The issue is more with the presumption behind the divine orb than the items themself at this point given the weird items now. An updated Divine orb text shouldn't be "rolls numeric modifiers" but rather "rerolls values within parenthesis" since a lot of them arent numeric anymore. Presumably this would solve the Shako issue as well since according to screenshots I saw the skills are listen within parentheses but I cannot confirm as I don't own a Shako. that sucks mate.
ive made it a habit to always triple and quadruple check whenever i am doing any sort of modification to something new if its expensive and there is even a sliver of chance i am wrong about how something works. always ask people for confirmation on my understanding of how it works. this one is an easy one to fuck up on, considering it is easy to assume it works like a watchers eye. some sort of clarification in the advanced tooltip would not hurt here |
