Why cant I beat Maven 10?

I've got some good gear, been able to do the maps on t16 corrupted rare, yet I am unable to the maven fight using 10 t14/15 map bosses. Even with a normal map.

Starts out ok, get the first couple of bosses down, but soon another bunch joins and next thing I know I cant stop moving or I am instantly killed. I cant cast a single spell or I die. Even with all flask buffs activated.

Though I am weirdly immune to everything as long as I keep moving. But five minutes later I'm still running around the circle cant figure out what to do so give up.

This is my second time trying, if its something simple its way over my head and I could use advice.

I'd recommend two things first. Run the invitation white, and pick your bosses carefully. The tier of map from which they come doesn't matter, they'll be rescaled for Crucible level anyway. What matters is the type of boss, some are absolutely deadly there, some are just meat for the slaughter.

With your build, I think melee, especially slow bosses would be ideal. Belfry, Dunes, Port, Cursed Crypt, Strand...those are all good bosses for Crucible that I can recall offhand.

Maybe due to phys DoT? or some physical hit. Almost everyone is saying that armour + evasion is very good now, so might as well take both. Also your life and es regen is very low. Unfortunately that's all I know looking at the POB stats

as a "quick & dirty" fix you could try to utilize a decoy totem to distract bosses and give you time to cast.
I dont think this will be enough but its a start.


Next step would be farming a 6l chest. You are missing out on a ton of dmg simply because you dont have one plus the one you are using isnt doing much for you in bossing scenarios.

The easiest and fastest way to acquire a 6l would be allocating the "strongbox" nodes on your atlas passive tree. The important ones would be "Twice Tempted" for 1 guaranteed box and "Tamper Proof" to make sure all boxes are corrupted.
Then add strongbox scarabs to your map device while you are farming.
"Secret Operations" is also great because those special boxes drop tons of scarabs for free.
Im dropping 6ls all the time this way - the only downside is that all of them are corrupted. Doesnt matter that much tho.
Try to get a good base (Dex/Int) with decent stats and use your craftingbench to fix the colors.

Your final socket should be a red one for an empower support, if you have one.
If you cant get that one use a lvl12 Arcane Surge instead for the time being.


What you really want tho is a Shaper or Elder influenced Dex/Int base ilvl 80+
This might take a bit of farming, Shaper/Elder scarabs will help to get what you need or buy a shitty one from a player as long as its not corrupted.
Shaper influence is better if you cant get an Empower, Elder is better if you happen to have one.

Allocate the Essence nodes on your Atlas tree to farm as many "Greed" essences as you possibly can for a guaranteed liferoll. You will need a lot of those.
Then start spamming away and hope to hit +1 active skill gems.

If you wanted to go big, then farm up both chests. Shaper AND Elder ilvl80+.
Alt spam +1 active gems onto the shaper chest and +1 support gems onto the elder chest and use Awakener´s Orb to merge both chest, so you benefit from both stats.

Then spam Jewelers Orbs or buy the 6socket craft at your crafting bench for 350 Jewelers and try to link the sockets. If you like gambling, spam away and hope for the best or farm 1500 Fusings so you can buy the 6l craft at your bench.


While you are busy farming all that stuff, make sure to lvl 6 Essence Drain gems in your secondary weapon slots. Corrupt them once they hit lvl20 to get a lvl21 ED. When you got that, go again and flip the gems to lvl 1/20 this time around to get a lvl 21/20 ED eventually.

Like all spells ED wants extra lvl more than anything else.
Right now you are dealing about 265K dps. A lvl21 gem would bring that up to 296K, the Shaper chest to 331K, adding an Empower3 would take this to 415K and the Big Boi version: 6l Shaper/Elder chest plus Empower4 would result in about 515K dps.
Thats about twice the dmg you are dealing right now.

I think a big part of the problem is that you are going heavy block using Glancing Blows. This in itself is not a problem except for the following:

1) Glancing Blows is really only good if you have some kind of recover on block. By itself, it sucks since you are taking most of the damage when you block.

2) You are spending an insane number of points stretching your tree over to the left to get it.

These two things combined make your character way weaker than it needs to be because you are a little bit of mitigation with block, a little bit of evasion for Ghost Shrouds, etc. Hedging like that tends to be terrible and wasting a bunch of points traveling to these far off places makes it even worse.

I would chop off the left side of the tree and look to get more things on the right where you start. You can get considerably more evasion this way (and that in turn makes your Ghost Shrouds much better). Annoint Corruption on your amulet as that is the only high value thing on the left. Additionally, the opal wand base requires super high intelligence. If you can get a similar wand on a base w/ a much lower intelligence, that will ease the whole "chop off half your tree" move. If not, you might need to get some int on gear.

If you are okay with getting out of the shield and wand thing, a Cane of the Unraveling is massively more damage than your setup and should be cheap (this is the go to league start item for this build).

Also, I don't know PS4 prices but on PC, Awakened Swift Affliction, 21/20 ED, Awakened Void Manipulation, etc. are super cheap right now (we're talking like ~20c each). If prices are similar on PS4, I would buy those things.

As another guy said, that chest piece isn't doing anything for you. If you can afford it, a Cherrubim's Maleficence is much better. If not, Cospri's Will is pretty decent too (high evasion, you get an extra curse for free, hexproof).

For the ED build though, if you really want big damage, cluster jewels is where it's at (and chopping off the left side will get you that).
