Flame Surge Inquisitor - WIP - Advice?

Pastbin posted, basically this build uses flame surge and fanatacism, whirling blades procs the fanatic buff, 4 of those and it triggers basically 4 seconds of practically free and rapid casts of flame surge, if I could figure out how to record gameplay I would gladly post a video.

Herald of Ash to proc ignites, whirling blade with combustion for extra ignites, in peak gear at level 100 for what I currently have is around 17m dps

Currently I am level 80 with everything but the 2 new jewels and added skill points, I can do t16 maps with ease just with my current damage (around 10m with everything going) but I die occasionally, I don't feel super tanky, but I don't necessarily feel weak.

Without sacrificing too much damage, any suggestions on how to make the character more tanky? Aside from experimenting with some serious mirror tier rares, I can't think of a way to make this build any tankier.


Side Note: Whirling blades does not require you to hit a target to proc the fanatic charges, just using it will proc them, the strat is to run around and just annihilate everything with regular flame surge then blast the shit out of the stronger rares and bosses with the fanatic buff

I think you could deal with dropping the Heartbreaker (it's only really giving you culling strike, which you can get perhaps on your totems, or if you buy a bunch of Vulconises and vaal them, on your dagger) and replacing it with a shield. You have Glancing Blows on your tree anyway for some reason, so this means you can easily get a Shaper shield with Life and %Life on Block. Add some more stats like crit, +1 fire gems or spell damage and you'll have a super nice offensive upgrade, while some extra block chance, crit reduction or max res will give you a great defensive option. You'll also be able to pick up some nodes on the tree (Sanctuary, Arcane Guarding).

I think you're possibly better off dropping every node below Avatar of Fire (i.e. Juggernaut, Inexorable, Utmost Might and Bloodless + all the travel nodes), picking up a small cluster with Enduring Composure to replace Inexorable, and investing the saved nodes into the Scion life wheel and elsewhere on your tree. I think in this case re-anointing to Utmost Might would be your best bet.

The Abyss jewels need to be better. Corruption implicits on cheap uniques like Legacy of Fury are quite nice - perhaps +1 max endurance charges along with Inexorable/Enduring Composure. If you have a bit more money you can get one on the gloves too.

You don't have a Watcher's Eye - they provide so much power that I would say they are mandatory in trade leagues.
