How to improve my build to be more tanky?

I am doing ok mostly, but there are situations where I just instantly die for some reason and sometimes I die almost instantly from blood curses...

My character in question is ShiroiSpin.

At first glance, your character looks to be all in on damage and not much else. You don't have any significant armour or evasion, no defensive auras, and you don't have any investment in block or spell suppression. You don't even have defensive pots. If you want to be more survivable, the short answer is you're going to have to give up some of that damage.

Aegis Aurora is not a very good shield for you because you barely have any armour.

Can you share a pob? Much easier to give specific advice with that.

3600 life is definitely NOT helping him either.

Sadly I am not doing much damage either, so... I am open for suggestions :)

Your build doesn't have any redeeming features. Poor damage, no defense and very little synergy or quality of life. To me, its crazy to see a build with enlighten 3 and a spell gem that is level 19! You have very little ES so I'm not sure how strong Aegis Aurora is. 5 curses with a 1 curse limit. No defensive auras. You didn't take a caster wheel to grab +1 maximum seals which will be huge for QoL.

Your best bet is to find a build guide or head over to poe.ninja and either search in SSF or use the time machine to look at early cold BV occultist builds to see how they built their characters.

As a starting point, I would squeeze in determination if you want defense, grab ashes of the stars and anoint it (reservation efficiency, +1 gems, quality for blade vortex), a 20/20 vaal blade vortex, corrupted ele weakness gloves (without vulnerability), dual wield void batteries, get your last ascendancy for +1 curse, take Arcane expanse and the +1 maximum seals from mastery. Get a helmet with BV 30% duration enchant and essence craft it for life/res/stats.

Edit: Also I don't know why you are taking Clever Thief, you don't deal attack damage.

Also use PoB to figure out best support gems. Cold penetration support is about 18% more DPS compared to increased critical strikes which is 33% more DPS.

Thanks, for some reason I wasn't aware of the importing thing when the profile is public. Derp moment there on my part.


OP: As the guy above me says, your build is basically a mess. You basically need to fix things from scratch. Are you open to checking out a guide? I know a lot of people want to "figure it out on their own" but doing so generally requires a good foundational understanding of basic mechanics to create something that works. This game is not very forgiving to those who attempt it without such.

I appreciate the feedback and I have tried to make some adjustments based on other builds. This is where I am right now. Suggestions for improvements?
