fire resistance help

i have my maximum fire resistance at 89%, however fire damage appears to be ignoring my resistance. The dog in chimera that spits fire balls, 1 hit me. I have 5000 hp.....any ideas?

Those things do a considerable amount of damage but a one shot at 89 res is unlikely. Did the map have a bunch of damage mods by any chance and you're sure it was just the one hit and not anything else?

The map was white......i was at full hp when it hit me

I dont see anything on that char that gets you to 89 fire res. Are you sure you arent looking at overcapped res?

" according to my pob import, that character doesnt have 89% fire resist. that character has 73% fire resist before endurance charges, and 75 afterward. without sources of 'increased maximum resist', your max resists are 75. you have attack block and armor, but absolutely no defenses vs spells after 5k life + 75 resist. |

yes uncapped is 88 sorry.....but with 75% resistance to fire, fire damage should not kill me so easy

75% res is the base damage the game is balanced around. So something that deals considerable damage (such as these dogs) will rip through you with 75% res and only 5k hp.
The one shot doesnt surprise me anymore. |
