gladiator is honestly pretty bad for damage unless you go pure phys.

instead of gladiator, give up 60/50 and just do a 50/50 raider. using frenzy charges, free spell suppression, exposure, and evasion increases. your position on tree gives more access to elemental damage, better reservation passives and you can scale crit easily using suppression mastery, a large cluster and 2 crit mediums. you can also get 100% ele ailment avoidance with little effort.easily using iron reflexes as u have block, getting high armor easily with grace and determination.

also for any ele build, penetration is a HUGE source of dps. especially when you don't have endless base scaling through stat stacking.

DONT USE A PHYS BASE. Ele bases are insane this league and easy to get, maces being unpopular choices will probably be inexpensive. 2 similar tier flat ele rolls lets you use trinity support (big dam).
I think the biggest issue though, is how hard you're making the build for yourself. you know melee requires more investment to feel good but you gimp yourself with a 350 pdps weapon. you don't have certain mods that free up your 6 link for better supports. Glacial hammer was never the best, and it JUST ATE A FAT NERF through threshold jewel changes.
there are countless options that would simply scale higher, heavy strike for example, that don't limit you to weaker weapon types. maces are under scaled and instead of making them better they just released shockwave support, which only feels good with fast attacking skills (not previously used with maces) for initial burst damage. these few options usually boil down to cyclone.
Do yourself a favor and just choose better builds to dump time into.

I'm a little more accurate on this: Glad is "good" for Bleeding only.

Champion or Slayer is much better for everything else.

While the problem of damage is a thing, the biggest problem of melee by far is the completely toxic design of the game towards melee.


Good Lord just look at maven. She denies a huge part of the arena, teleports around and have a moving laser bullshit.

All these mechanics are an annoyance to ranged but are EXTREMELY toxic for someone that needs to be on top of her to do damage. I do realize that good part of people just do her doing so much damage that the mechanics doesnt matter, but you can see that a dev never did that fight as a melee, outside of slam/dots, or if did they went with 20 mil of dps insta phased her and called it a day.

I mean for fuck sack if you made a single mistake while putting the huge ass dot ball you can both kill 1/3 of the arena, because you cannot sit on top of it and dpse her, or you can straight up brick the fight. (put in the middle, in the brain phases you will not be able to dps him)

Damage of melee should made up for the uptime that melee lose for having to follow bosses. But at the same time GGG needs to start to give a shit about melee players or change the name of the tag and entirely remove the term of the game.
