The Searing Exarch/Eater of Worlds Quests

I can't get the quest to progress, not sure if I'm doing something wrong.
After killing either The Black Star/The Infinite Hunger, The quest log loops back to :
"Purse The Eater of Worlds' influence in a Tier 11+ map"

This is right after killing The Black Star, The quest log didn't update

And after exiting to Hideout it loops back

I have killed both of them more than 5 times and i get no progress.

I'm only running t15+ Maps. This is Very confusing to me. I will appreciate if someone can clarify to me what i am doing wrong, or is it a bug maybe?

Thanks, but this is not the cause of the problem.

That's what got the quest status to update for me when I had the same problem. The quests didn't stop looping until I talked to him before going in to kill. Must be multiple sources of the problem then.

Still no solution to this..
When i defeat The Black Star/The Infinite Hunger the quest object doesn't update and remains on "Defeat The Black Star"

GGG Staff can you take a look at this? or at least move this post to the Bugs Section?

Fixed with the new patch 3.17.1 !
