Sustaining archmage support for Divine Ire?

Hey, im kinda bad at this game in general. I tried to make archmage support work for Divine Ire but i cant really sustain my mana. It drains like 2k mana/sec. I have at most like 1k mana regen/sec.

Is there a combination of items/passives that i dont know about? Im a Hierophant now at this league.

Help would be appreciated.

For Archmage, you generally want to use a skill that deals as much damage per mana as possible.

Channelling skills are generally bad at that and will drain far more mana relative to the actual damage they put out.

So rather than a channelling skill, most people use spells that deal a lot of damage per cast (e.g. Ball Lightning) and use Unleash or Spell Echo to get reoccurring or repeated casts for extra damage without having to spend mana.
I understand that archmage is more optimal for those kind of abilities. But i wanted to do a "stupid" build and see if there is a way to retain high enough mana regen for divine Ire. It would be interesting if someone figured it out.

If there is a way to get 2k manaregen/sec then i think it would work.
It generally is not impossible to reach that much regeneration. Many Archmage builds have more than that. All you need is a lot of mana, as much % of mana regenerated per second as possible, and a bunch of increased mana regeneration.

The most important items are probably Cloak of Defiance, Pure Talent (if you can connect to the Witch start) and Atziri's Foible with 20% quality from fertile catalysts (ideally with maximum rolls before quality too). Ideally you would want to play an ascendency that grants mana regeneration too, like the Elementalist's Mastermind of Discord or the Necromancer's Essence Glutton.

The Hierophants Ritual of Awakening can provide a lot in theory but requires placing many totems, so you do not have the regeneration while clearing and you have to spend time on placing totems rather than dodging bosses and dealing damage, so it is a better fit for Indigon than Archmage.

Alternatively you can try to build around mana flasks and sustaining them infinitely.
Interesting, i should try that. Perhaps with scion or with witch?

Thanks for the tips. Its quite hard to know all the things in the game that can fit your build. So many uniques and so many combination of skills and whatnot.
If you are playing with trade, you could cheaply get Forbidden Flame and Forbidden Flesh for Essence Glutton in addition to playing Elementalist with Mastermind of Discord.

And unlike Ritual of Awakening, all it requires is consuming a corpse on a regular basis, which you can easily facilitate with Disciple of Kitava from Kivata's Teachings. And incidentally that will also recover 5% mana per second so long as you have corpses to consume, although those 5% are not scaled by mana regeneration or recovery rate.

The simplest way of creating the corpses is probably a weapon with a "trigger a socketed spell when you use a skill with a 4 second cooldown" mod. You can also link Desecrate to Cast when Damage Taken instead, but that would not be reliable if you do not take damage for a while, and in addition to losing a bunch of mana recovery you would take more damage due to Disciple of Kitava. If there is a specific weapon you need for your build or getting the trigger mod is too expensive, you can of course also just cast Desecrate yourself.

Alternatively you could use Corpsewalker which spawns corpses while you move, although that shares a slot with Dance of the Offered which is a popular item for Archmage builds because it does not require you to path to The Agnostic. Then again if you do not plan on taking The Agnostic in the first place because you had difficulties to sustain the mana cost, that should not be an issue.

Well, you do not have to go for these strategies, but they are what I would utilise if I was planning on playing an Archmage build.
