Eldritch Altars

I like the new endgame. I like the Eater/Exarch influence in maps. It's far better than Shaper/Elder or the Conquerors. It feels fun and rewarding as opposed to just being some neutral extra mobs to kill, or the super annoying Baran trash.

What I don't like is that you have to search every nook and cranny for those altars. And you have to clear the whole map before the boss. Otherwise you risk missing out on some nice rewards. This creates a lot of back-tracking and time wasting.

Why are the altars hidden anyway? The reveal radius is way too small. Please make them appear on the map from the same range as Ritual altars.

As for back-tracking, maybe use the same solution as the Archnemesis monoliths? Spawn a bunch of extras but only 4 can be activated.

Also: activated altars disappear from the map but other than that they look exactly the same as before activation and can even be clicked again (although nothing happens). This is a bit confusing. Please despawn activated altars, or make them turn to stone, or whatever.

ok, this is gonna turn into a tl:dr rant, im smiling, im light hearted but im also gonna swear and have a friendly rant here so strap in and dont get your knickers all bent out of shape.





only run linear maps in poe like strand, beach etc. every other map is shit. thats the answer to this problem, its the answer to every problem, its the answer to the entire map system.


maps are shit in practice, you pay this investment, you sit in your hideout rolling them, considering which map to play, which one you hate the least, what the mods youve just rolled are, how do they work together and vs my build on on this boss.... zzzzzzz fuck sake when do i get to the bit where i play the fucking game holy fuck this is tedious.... and then by the time you get into the bloody thing you spend the entire time just looking at the mini map overlay thinking if i go left instead of right at the next junction will i then have to spend all my time backtracking at the end when i find out ive totally fucked up the way ive cleared this map?

the graphics, the gameplay, everything else happens in the background of your vision and your mind while u just study the overlay with 80% of your conscious brain and then have to backtrack anyway and it feels like shit and you just wish you never had to play that dogshit non linear map ever again.

this is just another example of what is already the case. play linear or gtfo of the game entirely and go do something else with your time like watching netflix or petting your cat.




but the devs dont want us to play linear maps because they have some sort of weird dev ego bullshit going on where they think as designers theyre above designing just linear maps and want to keep removing maps like gorge and making strand have 0 mobs in an attempt to force us to play maps like dungeon because that flatters their ego as devs and theyre convinced the only reason we want to play linear maps anyway is because of some kind of profit per hour calculation we have made in a spreadsheet and not the reality which is that everything about their design makes playing anything non linear about as fun as slamming your face in a car door.








keep on them until they actually fix the favourite map slot then just make every map on your favourites strand and beach and port and promenade etc and then you can enjoy your time, turn off the minimap overlay, enjoy the graphics, the gameplay, everything comes together, you kill all the goblins without having to really think about that side of things then the end of the zone comes and theres the boss which is a nice way that the map should end, its all good.

just do it, treat yourselves, you only live once and 80-95 years on this planet is too short to spend another minute in a non linear map. you deserve to enjoy the time you spend, i wouldnt wish a dungeon map run on anyone.
