Divine Shield Makes Infinite Hunger Impossible

I was wondering why I stopped healing and leeching against Infinite Hunger, but then I saw what he did: -400 armor and evasion Per tag.

This is a complete hard counter to anybody interested in using Divine Shield and Chaos Inoculation.

Just a darn shame. Don't know if this interaction was considered prior to making this boss like this. Maybe is Divine Shield that needs a fixing to allow a minimum amount of Energy Shield recoverable.

I seriously doubt ANYTHING was considered when whoever was boneheaded enough to make that boss did. It was simply a lazy, "let's take away all defenses, root the guy in place, and swarm him in an area with no minimap and no easily visible clue as to what to do."
Bumping the thread to say this is probably the worst designed boss in years.
No indicators where to go when you're swallowed (some rocks aren't a good fucking indicator), infinite spawning mobs, crazy slows and your defences are gone.

Whoever designed this shitfest really need to reconsider the mechanics of the fight. If you don't have a stupid meta-build that one-shots the boss you're literally fucked.

Also to GGG, here's a reminder of what the Divine Shield defence node does if you didn't know how the game works. If you have this node you basically have no ES the whole fight because the stacks are permanent for whatever reason.

Yeah, I was really excited to try a wonky fun build but now I'm going to have to scrap the idea. I really hate to have a build that CANNOT DO MAIN STORY BOSSES.

I honestly wouldn't be too upset if it was like a random map boss. I would just skip that map/boss. But now I have to spend a regret orb to remove Divine Shield every time to fight this boss?

Forget it, I'll change my build. Really heartbreaking, my main joy from PoE is thinking of wonky builds.

It's also extra sad because Divine Shield isn't even a strong keystone. I just thought it'd be cool to have a build that utilized it.

This is not actually true, although in my first Hunger fight it took me 2 deaths to see why.

Spoiler
The exit is downstream because the portal is next to the whirlpools, follow the direction the sludge is flowing in.
