SSF never should have become a primary league

I think the only reason people play SSF HC is for pride and the fact that it is "the hardest mode." However the reality is that there are no legitimate ways to target items you want in this game which restricts you to playing builds that don't require specific uniques or really rare items, or only making a build after you randomly got the item(s) on another character.

People play SSF purely for the competitive element, and since most people quti this game after one month since new content, maximum, it is therefore logical to think that SSF easily could have been left as an option for events, races, etc and it never needed to become a primary league. SSF killed HC trade league and there is no sense of community whatsoever anymore amongst HC players.

With all the constant, new ways to get 1 shot off screen, and no community, there is no justifiable reason to play HC at all anymore unless you are trying to accomplish some specific goal like reaching 100 or achieving boss kills, etc. Sad because HC used to be extremely popular and was one of the main ways to enjoy PoE.

I do not play the game enough to justify playing SSF when there is no systems in the game to actually make the builds you want, and I don't get enough satisfaction/sense of accomplishment from softcore so I am left playing a dead HC trade league which is honestly almost the same as SSF.

At the very least make a system for targeted rewards in SSF, but of course it won't happen. They are too busy churning out the next undeveloped league system.

Just another reason the retention rate of this game is becoming lower and lower with each release. GGG thinking community is not important and only appealing to certain audiences (people who buy supporter packs and microtransactions don't need to play for a long time to spend a lot of money) while constantly disrespecting some of the more loyal and dedicated players.

Trade leagues simply needed to last a longer time, giving more time to develop the next league, while offering more events and event-rewards interim to satisfy the more competitive element of gameplay and keep people engaged in a meaningful way for longer periods of time. They have more than enough money to give people some nice gaming gear or some unique cosmetics for event rewards, but I guess this doesn't please shareholders as much as a week-long 100k spike in player count every 3 months.

being "restrictive" is a vital part of being called a "hard league".

You should have tried SSF of the past, say somewhere before incursion. Now there are a gazillion mechanics/cards etc. to target farm something you want.

No we don't. I play SSF because there are few things I find less enjoyable than trading for items, and although I could (and did, prior to it becoming an option) just do that in the trade league, I'd rather use the SSF league simply to "be counted" in GGG's numbers of who prefers to play this way.

GGG and streamers killed off HC Trade. The game turned into a singleplayer ironmode with the sole multiplayer aspect being ssf players boasting their 'superiority' all over general chat.

[sarcasm]GGG should disable chat for SSF players as well, so they can experience their solo experience to the maximum.[/sarcasm]

Yeah, I played SSF because I fucking hated trading the way it was implemented and the reasoning behind its implementation. One of the reasons I don't even play this game anymore is GGG's insistence of balancing it around trade, so there you have it.
I play SSF because when i played trade i realized that everything that ever dropped was always a value in chaos for me.

Also i realized that flipping items was the best way to make currency by a HUGE margin. The game turned into: "flip currency, buy the items i needs, make the build i want, fool around for 3 hours. get bored."

SSF forces me to think how to solve the problems i face. I have to look at items and see the potential of it instead of how many chaos/exalts it is worth.
There is more to ssf than wanting a harder league... like just wanting to play ssf. Make a 3 month trial ssf league with significantly better droprates and watch the numbers i say.

I play SSF because I like to actually play the game, not sitting in ho. Also, I already work fulltime for currency in RL, don't like it in-game too.

Chris said that if the item is tradeable it feels valuable, but for me it works the other way - if I can buy any item, then they are all worthless, only currency matters. Hate that feeling in trade league.
