Question about The Annihilating Light
So I am interested in The Annihilating Light Staff in 3.17. However when reading the POE wiki about the mechanics of this staff I am not sure about something. See below copied from the wiki.
X% Reduced resistances (not -X% to Resistances) is multiplicative with your Uncapped Resists (in Character Screen) towards zero, and additively multiplicative with the Blight Helmets or entirely multiplicative with Tempered by War. Negative Resists will become less negative, so it has antisynergy with Doryani's Prototype. With a 63% reduced roll, starting from -60 basline, you would need 263 Elemental Resists to reach 75 Ele Res. My question is this, would this staff reduce the -60% resist you get from act progression? the wiki says negative resists will become less negative, but also implies that the negative 60 baseline still applies. This is a big deal because if the staff modifies the -60% from act progression you would be starting from -22% not -60% Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere & I missed it thanks for your help Last bumped on Jan 27, 2022, 5:09:58 PM

It would. However, unless you plan on staying at negative res, it will hurt you not help.

reduced will take place after +/-
so if you have +50 to resists bringing you to -10, it would become -4 or -3(don't want to do math on rounding) calculation orders: +/-(aka flat, these are what you have on gear) increased/reduced more/less also you are super unlikely to get this staff during acts. |

It's actually downright impossible to get it during Acts. According to the reveal today, this is part of a new endgame boss's loot table.
