I wonder what is this guy's deal. Is he paid by the game to promote it here or what :D Anyway, I assume Undecember aims to China/Korea market, thereford it will have crazy micro transactions model.

to think that PoE players care about graphics more than gameplay... Its not true for any genre of game, least of all isometric arpgs

has achieved 3 million pre-registrations, If I agree with you, the same thing happened to me… I found out from a Streamer who plays Path of exile.
3 million non-unique registrations, some of which will quite possibly be bots, the other part will be disappointed in the game, and there will be those who will come in for a short time to play between leagues. There will be no such thing that the game came out 1% better and everyone quit playing PoE.
Healthy competition is good. But I'm afraid it's very difficult to compete with PoE even now.

No one really needs to compete with PoE. GGG is one shotting itself in the foot by upsetting non hardcore players. A considerable part of those will leave when Lost Ark / Diablo 4 / new ARPG that caters to non hardcore players comes to life.
GGG just has to hope that when it happens, it won't throw them under the bus financially. Or they can do something now to prevent this...

You just summed up why GGG should absolutely not cater to casuals.
They can and will go wherever they please because there is always a plethora of casuals games available for each genre under the sun.
Its not possible to please casuals players. They arent a monolithic block wanting the exact same thing.
If GGG gave an inch, casuals would ask for a mile and be disgruntled if GGG doesnt follow suit. This dynamic has ruined many games already.
Casuals cant be pleased, they can only be milked before they eventually move on to the next thing.
Harcore minded players dont have those options available and thus will generate a significantly smaller but reliable stream of revenue for years to come.
As long as GGG can operate on that budget they are fine.

You mean as long as Tencent is pleased with the revenue stream they get from GGG every year...
They may have retained creative freedom, if at some point Tencent decides to bail out, that potentially will be another problem for them.
When GGG says that they still need players bying packs every league and a 30% cut (underperfomance of a league) is hard on their finances, that tells me that it won't take more than 50% cut in their revenue to get them in the red financially.

I wouldnt count on Tencent intervening.
1. They got the Chinese market and the game over there can be wildly different than the international realm. They can have whatever they want over there, introduce P2W to the max and milk more than a billion potential customers.
2. I highly doubt Tencent paid 100 million without even asking what GGG is up to and planning for the next 5-10 years. Thats a delusional assumption.
Tencent knew and greenlighted what happened in 3.15 well in advance, probably years ago when the deal wasnt even sealed.
If thats the straw you are clinging to - good luck mate.
Next: The 30% revenue drop.
Obviously bad shortterm, no debate to be had. However that changes if you think longterm. Where do you think more ambitious players of those games you listed will go once they are bored with those superficial and bland casual games?
There is only one place they can eventually end up.
Id expect those casual games will pay a ton of money in advertising, attract players shortterm and eventually feed them towards PoE longterm - especially with PoE2 on the horizon.

I honestly think this to be oversimplified. Even the definition of casuality
is as individual as the player behind the screen. I also think that ggg did a (too) good job as of lately, to prioritize the so called hardcore players.
PoE is and will stay a timeintensive grinder and i think thats fine. After all, you should be aware of what kind of game you join up with. However, it is way too overwhelming for new players to engage with the game and its mechanics. Inaccessibility should be a thing of the past by now. And for me, this inaccessibility already starts at the point where a new player picks a skill that he likes, only to get stuck because its complete dogshit.
I would argue that a player, that manages to get past these hurdles, will enjoy what poe has to offer. So from that point of view, a casual player could be a player that simply didnt get hooked by the game yet. And with stuff like act 1 "reworks" i feel like as if ggg went into the complete opposite direction. And this is what actually upsets me. Theres alot to like about poe, but you have to let people get there.

imo the rework of act 1 was good the problem are the following acts are way too easy
i dont wanna sound harsh, but a big problem for many new players is the difficulty spike when you reach maps or higher map tiers
it might "hurt" the game atm but it is a step in the right direction to give new players a better idea of how endgame would look like

Yes, making acts harder will drive away milking power for GGG. Let's be real for one moment, even with how easy the story is right now, a good protion of new players that start the story forthe first time don't finish it. I hightly doubt that those one will give GGG some cash...
Now they can do whatever they see pleased with, only time will tell if it was a good move or not. I just don't want this game to disappear because of bad choices made by GGG and the current trend is not encouraging.
