Portal (Instance) Timeout Meter
Portals lasting "between 8-15 minutes" is a pretty wide range, but a player often needs a fair amount of time before returning to the instance (bathroom breaks or in-game dealings like trading, for example), and can risk losing a map or a zone if they take too long.
How about a simple meter in the UI counting down how long before a portal (instance) times out? It should be an easy thing to add, and would be a real quality of life feature for those who would like to know how long they have to do whatever business they portaled out for. =^[.]^= =^[.]^= basic (happy/amused) cheetahmoticon: Whiskers/eye/tear-streak/nose/tear-streak/eye/ whiskers =@[.]@= boggled / =>[.]<= annoyed or angry / ='[.]'= concerned / =0[.]o= confuzzled / =-[.]-= sad or sleepy / =*[.]*= dazzled / =^[.]~= wink / =~[.]^= naughty wink / =9[.]9= rolleyes #FourYearLie Last bumped on Dec 22, 2021, 3:13:24 PM

" This instancing issue is also severely affecting Desecrate and several minion builds, The Portal issues i started to notice first and it has become really upsetting at times when i took less than a minute to go get a support gem or complete a trade and my map is just gone.. In some cases this has happened within less than 10 seconds of leaving the instance with a map that was very recently loaded. you could go load up 15 or so instances of Blood Aqueduct and they would be there for quite a while but your hideout cant keep one instance loaded reliably? ouch.. " youre generally supposed to keep a spectre bank character for this. even if they added a portal timeout meter youd still be screwed if the hideout/map instances crash |

timeout isnt a fixed time though
it depends on server traffic and area i.e. act areas have a much shorter duration than maps.but both have a slightly shorter duration if "too many ppl are playing" still should be above 10min for any endgame area unless its an "you cant enter again area" like delve |

" I dunno. If I use "Ctrl" to create a new instance of an area, I can clearly see how long before the other instance(s) time out. Might be different for maps and such, but how difficult would it be to have the time left on the instance I portaled out of displayed where I can see it on the UI? =0[.]o= =^[.]^= basic (happy/amused) cheetahmoticon: Whiskers/eye/tear-streak/nose/tear-streak/eye/ whiskers =@[.]@= boggled / =>[.]<= annoyed or angry / ='[.]'= concerned / =0[.]o= confuzzled / =-[.]-= sad or sleepy / =*[.]*= dazzled / =^[.]~= wink / =~[.]^= naughty wink / =9[.]9= rolleyes #FourYearLie Last edited by Raycheetah#7060 on Dec 20, 2021, 9:05:08 PM

" Supposed to?? No.. People are needing spectre banks in large part due to this issue.. I've lost my spectres plenty in the past to just re-raise them in my hideout via desecrate with no problems. But i do not want to detract from the main point of the topic which is the portals/hideout instance not being held onto.. especially in circumstances when you have RECENTLY loaded a map/etc that just shouldn't be happening. " I can confirm that, in the Instance Manager screen, there is a "Time left before Instance Closes" meter. ='[.]'= =^[.]^= basic (happy/amused) cheetahmoticon: Whiskers/eye/tear-streak/nose/tear-streak/eye/

" mb than maybe they dont know where to put such a timer since the timer isnt running as long as you are in the area and you cant crtl to open a new area for maps etc a timer in the map open menu where you pick zana mods could be a good option,it wouldnt even need much space since you can only have 1 area open from it anyway |
