Due to what does the damage increase when the gem level increases?

The skeletons summoned have a level based on the level requirement of the gem. So raising the gems level raises the level of the skeletons summoned (skeleton's lvl increase Life, Accuracy, Armour, Evasion, Base Physical Damage)

Base damage of skeletons goes up by just over 11% per level, until level 30.
After level 30 it goes up by much less. Thus, before gem level 30, raising skeleton gem level is by far the best way to scale skeleton damage. As mentioned above, it also increases accuracy, evasion, life, and level of the skeleton. This is true for most summoned minions, they gain about 11% per level, up to 30, after that, it is much less per level. MATH: Imagine a level 4 empower in a 6 link staff, that has +1 socketed gems and +2 socketed support gems. That makes for a level 7 empower, that gives +6 levels to the skeletons. 6 levels gives (1.11^6 -1)% damage bonus 87% MORE base damage, by FAR the best support gem you could get. |
