Does Lightning to Cold conversion add damage?

For a Storm Call build, would it do more damage if it was converted to cold? Or is the original lightning going to be stronger? I've heard something about double dipping but not sure here.

That depends on all the various damage increases you have, for example the passive tree has "Storm Weaver" node that gives both increased cold as well as lightning damage, your converted cold damage would benefit from both of those bonuses.

Also you can benefit from both Wrath and Hatred auras for that kill if you can afford to run both of them.

I get why a node that adds to both lightning and cold would do it.

But why would Wrath and Hatred add to both? How does that work? I would have thought that Wrath just adds lightning that gets converted 1:1 to cold which adds no extra damage beyond 1x to cold. Then Hatred only adds to cold, again adding 1:1 to cold damage.

Why would aura's double dip damage?

And if they don't, then why not just use Hatred and Zealotry

Double dip is the wrong word, but you gain full benefit from both. Zealotry gives 15% more spell damage, wrath gives 21% lightning damage. You get a very small amount of crit chance and a chance at conc ground from zealotry but not likely to do more than 6% more damage provided your original base damage is all lightning-based.
Say you do:
- 1000 cold damage
- 50% do damage converted to light ing damage
- 100% increased cold damage
- 50% increased lightning damage

= 1000 * 2 = 2000 lightning damage
= 2000 * .5 = 1000 lightning damage + 1000 cold damage
= 1000 * 1.5 = 1500 for damage + 1000 lightning damage

Note: Any mod that increase elemental damage will only be applied once at the start, but you will benefit from both lightning and co!d damage modifiers on yourself (not increased damage taken on the enemy).

ITs not really douple dipping, it just that since the damage was lightning and is now cold, it can benefit from bonuses to both lightning and cold damage and Wrath+hatred is much highre damage boost then one or the other +Zealotry
