Scourge Bosses are too difficult to kill within the timer

I'm clearing T16 maps with a righteous fire build that has moderate investment at this point. The final tier of conquerors take forever to kill, as do some T16 bosses, particularly if I have resist and max life mods on the map. I can kill these, though, since I have time and I've build my character to be pretty tanky. However, Scourge bosses seems to be much tankier than even top tier conquererors, and they are on a timer. I can sit there and facetank with scorching ray for max dps, but even if I use every last bit of juice in a map, I still can't get bosses like Ghorr down below 1/2 hp. They're simply too tanky, and the timer mechanic is awful. I'm very disappointed that Chris said the team was mindful of the timer, KNOWING that the clearspeed meta is something they don't like, and yet here we are yet again where builds with less than millions of damage per second can't do the league content. It's infuriating, and it's finally solidified that I do not like the Scourge league mechanic. Please *never* put difficult fights like this on a timer again.

doesnt the timer pause when ur fighting them? every time i have fought one the blood counter thing stops going down while the fight is happening?

am i thinking of the same thing here? is this something to do with the fact you are not technically 'hitting' the boss with rf or scorch? or am i just misunderstanding the situation?

It pauses for maybe a second or two when you hit them. It doesn’t pause for DoT damage. Also doesn’t pause long enough on hit if you ask me.
when i played against them the timer basically paused for the entire fight, it didnt move at all.

if this is an issue with dots, that really needs addressed, it shouldnt be on hit it should be on them taking damage.

in the mean time its probably best to take an orb of storms i guess? just drop it at their feet and it will keep ticking hits on them which will allow the fight to take as long as it needs?

shouldnt come to that though, dot builds shouldnt be essentially ignored by the mechanic that is meant to be there to pause the timer for the entire fight.

yup the timer is paused as long as you're on top of them. Not sure about the distance but if you move away even just a bit it seems to drain again. I had to stand right on their ass in order for it to keep paused
I have found only 8 bosses yet, but I think the timer is paused for a few seconds when we first encounter the boss, like 3-5 seconds, then only pauses again and again if You damage the boss with some life threshold like some percentage of his life.

I failed 2 bosses out of the 8 with seemingly low damage, as the timer was sometimes paused sometimes not, visibly paused more when I had better time window to dps, and visibly not paused when I had to kite a bit around, like if I was on the limit of that life percentage threshold.

All my builds are ranged, so I was always as far as I could to not get killed, and in the last 2 encounters, even half a screen away, both bosses went down quite quickly with consistent damaging, the timer was paused full time and the whole boss fight took around 12-15 seconds.

So, unfortunately, they seems to be the usual damage check in my experience so far.

So, it just turns out, we were lied to for years with the promises of a two-storied one PoE 4.0.
All these worse and worse beta leagues, all these braindead changes, all lead to this.
GGG: We want to slow players down and reduce player power to make the game more challenging.
Also GGG: Lets add more timers so players continue to feel pressure to go faster and min/max the meta.
I have a pretty good sense of humor. I'm not German.
i have a brand, maybe try having a brand, even if its just a single gem without links if u can brand the boss will that not keep ticking damage on him and keep the timer paused?

i didnt feel like the timer was hitting on health thresholds, i took ages on one of the bosses and the timer was almost at 0 when i got to him but it stayed still for what felt like minutes while the fight took place.

but i did have a brand on him the whole time which was consistently ticking damage.

Pauses if on top of them. Be careful if in group though. It won't pause if teammate is away or dead. Also if you should accidentally run out of time you can always farm the bar up to max and go back to exact spot and keep fighting the boss.

Just fought another one right now, the timer was paused the whole time. I find these bosses pretty easy overall you can avoid everything by just running circles around them, none of them any heavy 360 aoe attack afaik and their highest damage charged attacks don't track you all the way if you keep moving.
