Very Poor Performance w/Vulkan and Crashing with DX11
System:
Win 10.0.19042 Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHz, 4001 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s) Motherboard: ASUSTeK Z97-C RAM: 24GB Video Card: Gigabyte Aorus NVidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super Driver: 496.49 (updated a few days ago) Drive: Some Samsung SSD PoE Settings: Steam Client Everything on lowest, except 16x Anistropic Filtering. MultiThreading ON. VSYNC off. Standing in Lioneye's Watch: DX11: 180 FPS Vulkan: 45 FPS Standing alone in Hideout: DX11: 155 FPS Vulkan: 61 FPS Seems like DX11 is the answer, but with DX11, I get random crashes while mapping. The game seems to run fine and then suddenly the sound and videos stutter very briefly (1 second) and then the game closes, with no error. Just straight to Desktop. Seems like Vulkan is the answer, and just put up with the lower FPS, however, I get a LOT of visual artifacts from nearly every effect, and the game is nearly unplayable. This is solved if I switch Multithreading OFF, but then the FPS is even worse. Last bumped on Nov 6, 2021, 3:35:09 PM

Which RAM sticks are you using?
Roughly how long does it take for the client to silently close under DirectX? I find it difficult to justify optional purchases to support a Tencent-owned development studio that declines to provide customers Technical Support, regardless of how many thousands of euros that customer has spent...

4 Sticks. Both the same make (Micron), but purchased at different times.
CPU-Z tells me: Dual Channel DDR3, 24 GB (2x8gb + 2x4gb) DRAM Freq: 666MHz FSB:DRAM: 1:5 CL: 9.0 clocks tRCD: 9 clocks tRP: 9 clocks tRAS: 24 clocks tRFC: 200 clocks CR: 2T The CTD is always leads with the same symptoms: I'm spinning around and suddenly, both the graphics and sound stutters 2 times, the first stutter a shorter interval than the second, from which the game crashes. The time between the first stutter and crash is 1 - 1.5 seconds. As soon as it stutters the first time, this always leads to the crash. It's the only time the game stutters as such. If I had to be detailed in guessing the time, I'd say it goes: Stutter 1: .25 sec Brief return of movement and audio .25 sec Stutter 2: 1 sec CTD After this second stutter, the client immediately closes. There's no time to measure, I'm just back at the desktop immediately. Hope this helps! |
