Latency spikes due to errors on specific monsters (I think)

I started playing the league on a fresh install and noticed huge latency spikes which I just thought were caused by the server.
On Saturday I still had lag spikes from time to time. I then started just waiting for them to go away, which didn't happen. No matter how long I waited it wouldn't go away so naturally I checked my bandwidth usage and all of it was used up by PoE (my connection is bad, mind you). Running around a bit and looking at my latency and bandwidth usage it seemed to be area specific.
I noticed that it only happened in certain areas of a given map or zone and wouldn't go away until I either killed a given pack or got away far enough for it to unload.
Looking into the log file and talking to a friend who had similar issues and asking him to look into his log I noticed that a number of "FMOD MISSING EVENT" errors was being created by, apparently, missing or corrupted sound events which I assume then prompted those lags. That'd also explain the area specific nature of it all.

I'm having a similar issue. Never had any issues in the past, and many zones work perfectly. For me its mainly in maps, not sure if specific maps or not as I haven't been able to progress much because of this issue.

I'm also getting the FMOD MISSING EVENT errors. Really hoping its something that simple. I may try and install the game through steam to see if there is any difference for me. Doubt it will make a difference but its worth a shot at this point
I have the same problem its just in maps with spikes up to 3000 ms my record was 22000 ms.
I recorded a video as well. Entering the map my latency is fine. As I move to areas with monsters you start to see it spike, moving away from them seems to try and stabilize it

I just want to encourage people here to upload their logs. That's one of the best things you can do to accelerate them solving the problem.

You can find it directly in the install directory of PoE in the folder "logs". Easiest way to get there is to right click your PoE shortcut, click on properties and click on open file location. That directory also includes the Log folder.

To upload either use a free file hoster or open the file and copy (some of it as the whole thing is to big, maybe a day where the error happened) into pastebin.

I really hope GGG can fix this quickly since I really love the league so far.

On an aside, I suspect maps to be a bigger problem since monster diversity is a lot higher. This is purely anecdotal since I didn't read through all the logs but skeletons seem to be a big issue for me particularly. Those pretty much vanish into nonexistence after act 6 though and reappear in maps where the problems got fairly consistent to happen at least once or twice per map.
Similar issue here and I found it to be very much in-game location based. Uber Lab took me a few tries because one of the rooms would always have insane lag spikes. Malformation map also for example had them. It's definitely something the game is doing.
I have the same problem
I deal with the same Problem.

Same issue here, it started today while doing the map Port, after a few hours playing. I've never had the issue before.

I can confirm it happens when there are some types of monsters on the screen but not every monster. Seems to happen with skeletons for me too, as a previous commenter described, although it could just be coincidental. I think zombies do it too.

I could also reproduce the issue with corpses of said monsters. I did the following test. I stood on some corpses, my latency skyrocketed to 1000 ms. I then moved a few screens away where there were no corpses and my latency went back to normal (60 ms). Then I went back to the first spot with the corpses and it skyrocketed again to 1000 ms. I did this like 10 times and it consistently happened.

I was able to reproduce it in the acts too. It happened in Blood Aqueduct, The Vastiri Desert and The Foothills.

When it happened for the first time (in Port) the latency went up to 20,000 ms and made me logout from the server. I reproduced this 3 times (login back and taking the portal again) but didn't happen later on the other maps.

Weirdly enough I was able to run completely Relic Chambers after having the issue and my latency was normal during the entire map. Then I saw the issue again on Forking River and Racecourse and wasn't able to complete those maps. On those 2 maps I was able to reproduce the test I did before: standing close to monsters/corpses to make the latency skyrocket then move away where there are no monsters/corpses to make the latency go back to normal.

I don't think it's related to the FMOD MISSING EVENT error because I can see from the logs that I have FMOD MISSING EVENT errors since 2021/10/22 (when I started playing Scourge) and the latency issue started only today.

Here are the log of Racecourse:

(note: I'm playing Cyclone so that's surely what's causing the error "InstanceClientFinishChannellingAction ..." that appears multiple times)

I just did the following test and it shows the issue consistently:

- go to The Sarn Ramparts (act 8) and kill the beetles for 1 or 2 minutes, latency is stable and normal around 70-80 ms

- exit to character selection then login

- go to The Vastiri Desert (act 9), latency is normal at first, then it starts increasing to 300-400 ms when moving away from the waypoint, then goes to 2000 ms when a mummy appears on the screen

- exit to character selection then login

- go back to The Sarn Ramparts, kill some beetles, latency around 80 ms

- exit to character selection then login

- go back to The Vastiri Desert, latency again at 2000 ms around the mummies

- exit to character selection then login

- go back to The Sarn Ramparts, latency normal at 80 ms

- exit to character selection then login

- go back to The Vastiri Desert, latency at 2000 ms

- etc

Edit: now I can run The Vastiri Desert without any issue... but the issue just happened in Wharf T13...

Makes no sense.
