Why rework fortify so it only works with melee but then let champion still have it?
I don't understand the reason why GGG have gone to all this effort to stop fortify being used in an unintentional way (non melee chars) but then keep Champion as having the ability to not use it as melee.
Am I missing something? Last bumped on Oct 20, 2021, 9:55:13 AM

Champ can work just as well as bowman...and don't work as well as spellcaster only due to position in the tree. Champ can easily be specced fully into non-specific damage.

champion is strong in def and fortify is really nice, but dont forget other classes have nice def stuff or húge dmg bonuses too
other classes can stack fortify even on top of their stuff, sure not in all cases but thats the point easy safe fortify or other fluff |

The whole point of Fortify in the Champion Ascendency was to give access to Fortify to ranged characters in the first place. No melee class needs to waste a full two Ascendency Points (practically four) for nothing but Fortify. That's just how it has always worked.
Heck, you'll notice that all the Impale active skills don't have any melee component. The Champion has a lot of defense about it, but that doesn't make it particularly melee-oriented. |
