Not really - 75 % spell dodge means every one-shotting spell has a 25% chance to end you while 50 % dmg reduction means you will practically never get one-shotted by a spell.

Thing is that there really aren't that many true one shot spells in game - majority are 3-20 spells consecutively with penetration.

How many spells are you expecting to be hit by in a quick succession?
Very few mobs have spells and everything that isn't a tough rare gets deleted before it can cast it, so what's left are rares, and bosses, all of whom cast their spells with enough time in-between to regenerate back the lost health.

from the looks of the new league mechanic you will be swarmed with ranged and melee monsters

Curiosity, mostly. To try something different. When the game throws lots of new toys on the play ground, I'm sure as hell going to play with them. The "feel" of 75% dodge is definitely better than 100% suppression, but I don't think it's better in every scenario.

armour, dodge, block, supression, evasion = 0
regen = 40% (30% on bad gear)
9k life + 16k ES (7k + 12k on bad gear)
