Is something wrong with Cyclone and Mana Cost?

I had an old ring crafted -7 total mana cost of skills and it was working fine until just now. No matter what I do I seem to run out of mana for a short while. Only happened today.

My fingers got itchy and I recrafted with other options:
-7 mana cost for non-channeling
-3 mana cost for channeling
add mana, 4 mana regen per sec

Every option seems to drain the mana. My Cyclone character is dead. :(

Update: So wasted over 20c trying other options and found out that somehow the support gems are the one draining the mana. Cyclone can now only be linked to 3 other support gems before the mana goes bye bye.

Yep. That's 3.15 for you.
Support Gem are now way less powerful and way more costly mana-wise than before. The net result are that either you find a way to have a strong mana regen, or go Blood Magic/Eldritch Battery, if you are willing to go 6S. Or, which is a valid alternative, find a Mana Flask that keeps regenerating mana even after you reach full mana (don't remember the name of that modifier right now).

They tried to tweak a bit the mana cost during the league, but it's not as efficient as it was before. Mana-free channeling skills are way more difficult to do now

Problem is I'm playing in Standard and it was fine until I got back from an appointment, roughly 2pm GMT+8. I managed to clear a few red maps in the morning and kept dying after I got back into the game thanks to the sudden change.

Edit: Even if the tooltip says cost of Cyclone is 3 Mana (just 4 link support) and I have -3 mana for channeling skills, the mana still keeps dropping. GGG maths fail!

The tooltip already includes your -mana in it

Alright, but it doesn't explain why I had no problems in the morning with same gear and then all of a sudden the mana just kept dropping.

Does this even work?

Cos even when I hit the mobs my mana seems to be dropping.
You replaced "-7 total mana cost of skills", which was applying to channeling skills as well, with "-3 mana cost for channeling".

Your channeling skills cost +4 mana more then before changing the craft.

But I had the problem even with "-7 total mana cost of skills" right after I got home. No mana issues in the morning then when I got back and launched the game I had mana problems.
You could take your 2 points in Frenzy at the bottom and take the mana/life leech node to the right.

Thanks I'll give it a try. If it's still not smooth then I'll welcome any suggestion to replace Cyclone as the main skill :(

Update:

Thanks for the suggestion. Gameplay seems to be smoother now. The test would be against the bosses :)
