The new Divine Shield Keystone and its interaction with block
" In a never ending manifesto, I would prefer a few more words that make things clear rather than us just guessing/hoping it works a certain way. This question has been asked in a few others locations (twitter, reddit etc) and there is no one clear answer yet, just lots of educated guesses. It is a shame GGG is too busy because questions like these would be great to get some clear answers to. Is the feedback forum on this site of any use to get GGG responses or do questions just die on the vine their? |

Is there any news on this topic?
I can't seem to find a clear answer to this question. Poeatlas.app

" Hits are attacks, spells or secondaries that landed. so all forms of avoidance do not apply. Blocks mitigate hits to zero(by preventing the damage and effects), so blocks do apply. so basically, blocking and armor are the only things that matter here. the only part im not clear on, is if absorbed damage counts (like molten shell absorbed damage). i did not see anything in the wiki on absorption. In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice.
In practice, there is. |

My two cents is that, unlike Evasion and Dodge, which prevent the hit altogether, Block prevents the damage of the hit (as well as any on-hit effects). So yes, any physical damage prevented by the block should count towards Divine Shield.

I believe they did not mention "Armour" because there are also Physical Damage Reduction bonus that can be achieved with, say, EC.
That said, Wikia states that blocking is a way to "Preventing damage", although in the related page there is no extra information about what "Preventing" means. On the other hand, it states that block will "Block" the damage, which is not clear if it is a subset of "preventing". The only thing we can say for sure is that it will not work with damage avoidance, since Avoiding damage means taking a hit for 0 damage (Dodging is preventing the hit from ever landing on you). If we are to follow the manifesto, then Aldones got it right and that "prevented" on Divine Shield means only Physical Damage Reduction on the incoming blow. If we are to take the Wikia literally, then ekaye got it right and will count even fully blocked hits as they are "prevented damage" - which could restore an Aegis build to its former glory, I'd say. |

" I don't know why the threads this long, its the Jugg node but applies ES regen instead of life, so its armour + PDR mostly but the mechanics should be identical as all thats different is the duration (4s vs 10s) and where it goes (ES instead of life). Blocks don't count, nor do evades etc Last edited by Draegnarrr#2823 on Oct 20, 2021, 7:38:21 AM
