People typically don't buy tabs until they're already hooked at which point they'll probably be willing to spend $60 for their tabs (as that's the rough price of a normal AAA game).

" " " I would, respectfully, strongly encourage new players reading these claims to find a second opinion. " To pick an example tab that I own and do not believe to be required to play the game, may I ask what the Uniques Tab is doing there? People loot valuable Uniques to sell for Chaos / Exalts, and vendor any others they mistakenly loot. Why would someone need one of every unique? As for an example of a tab I do not own despite having played the game for thousands of hours and spent thousands of euros on it, could I ask how frequently you use your Delirium Tab? I’m being serious when I call these examples. I’d say 4 of those 10 tabs are solid recommendations to give to new players. Calling literally all off them “necessary” is… an ambitious claim to make. " Map Tab discounted price: 120 Currency Tab discounted price: 60 Essence Tab discounted price: 30 Fragment Tab discounted price: 55 Total: 265 €23.32 " Premium Tab Bundle discounted price: 165 Quad Tab discounted price: 120 (x2) Total: 405 Combined total: 670 €58.96 ---- I might point out that I did add things. If OP wants to rant on the game’s forum about GGG hoping people will pay them the going rate of a game for, y’know, their game, then they’re perfectly entitled to do that. I just really hope no new players saw OP’s post and started buying things based on it… I find it difficult to justify optional purchases to support a Tencent-owned development studio that declines to provide customers Technical Support, regardless of how many thousands of euros that customer has spent... I'm not a beginner but have never bought nor felt that I needed the Uniques, Blight, Delirium, Delve or Metamorph tabs. In an average league, all of my loot from these league encounters will fit comfortably into one regular Stash tab. Buying one more regular Stash offers more bang for buck for me than four league-specific tabs.
I reckon an effective beginner pack would be Currency, Maps, Divination, Essences, Fragments and then a six-pack of regular tabs. Some vets say that the Divination tab isn't necessary because most cards are junk and can be discarded. But beginners don't know that and will likely keep/trade in every one they find. Mine certainly saved me a LOT of inventory space. |

Delirium and Delve are completely unnecessary, yes. I've got all the others and used them extensively.
The uniques tab is especially useful for newbies since it lets you store tons of useful gear as you try out different characters. Украина в моём сердце

The majority of 'special' stash tabs are pretty UIs that are optional nice-to-haves which someone who has been playing the game for hundreds or thousands of hours will probably pick up as they won't begrudge GGG the few euros they cost individually. While they don't represent particularly good value for newer players, there's no real reason not to pick them up if they're desired.
The Uniques Tab is not one of these. It is actively harmful and detrimental to the new player experience. The Uniques Tab teaches bad habits such as looting garbage tier items and running around a town or hideout vendoring stuff (neither the game proper, nor loot filters, discriminate between items in your stash and those you've not looted before - anyone looting uniques will waste their time picking up duplicates; that is unavoidable). Additionally, it serves to reinforce the notion of higher rarity items being more powerful or valuable, which people learned in D3 but isn't true here in PoE. Finally, there's the natural desire for one to complete anything resembling a Pokédex. None of my friends who've picked up Path of Exile have expected to be the richest player in the game, but they do want some buying power - and they've recognised that they won't be earning worthwhile currency redoing the campaign. Unless they really can't stand the first build they've tried following a guide for, they typically try to stick with one or two characters for their first challenge league. They want to see the content, earn the achievements, and so on. If a unique item is clearly a big deal (i.e. the loot filter freaked out about it), then it can be thrown into a regular stash tab without issue. Most builds revolve around solid rare items, and the majority of uniques are 1 chaos / 1 alch items that you can buy but which you'd never manage to sell. If I had my way you'd need to hit level 90 five times before the Uniques Tab was buyable. I find it difficult to justify optional purchases to support a Tencent-owned development studio that declines to provide customers Technical Support, regardless of how many thousands of euros that customer has spent...

The unique, essence, delve, blight, delirium(in fact this one is near useless) and metamorph(not very useful) tab are nowhere near needed.
Currency and Map tabs are the only ones that greatly improve the game, div card and fragment are ones that non casuals will want(still not needed, just don't keep sac frags and learn which cards aren't worth keeping), at least one premium tab to sell valuable items, Essence tab will help you save a bit of a single tab and convenient path to upgrading them, also more likely to cause you to keep the ones you don't need) Beginners will want: 1. Currency 2. Map 3. Premium tab UPGRADE Intermediate tabs are 1. Div card and/or Frag 3. Essence 4. More Premium tabs/upgrades rest of tabs are for collectors/pack rats/people who want everything organized to the max or you know... buy the first blood pack then buy that stuff on sale |

A free alternative to increase storage space is to create mule characters to store excess items. Even some mules for different vendor recipes. Use Looty to keep track of inventory across all your toons.
