Energy shield on hit support gem, why doesn't it exist?

There is mana, health and energy Leech. There are lots of options for mana and health on hit. There is one unique in the Spider collection that grants miniscule ES hit and I think the watchers eye can too. I've played path of exile from the start, but I've never been able to come to a conclusion why GGG, who touts of a "You can do anything if you build it" style, has not opened up ES builds into a more facetank play style, and instead have life forced upon us(Pun intended lol). Maybe a Node in the skill tree that would "Energy shield no longer regenerates. Life potions apply to energy shield instead of life, Life on hit effects instead grants energy shield on hit".

Maybe it's because they want ES builds and Life builds to play out differently? The two playstyles used to be vastly different back in the days, but plays more and more the same - but leech in different ways has always been a intended difference, it seems.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
Then first i red your post so many thoughts flooded.

Like first of all why now of all times? I could have seen this suggestion like 4 or 5 years ago. This game is way too oneshotty for this to be a thing. ES is kinda bad and es gain on hit is worse on ES than life so you need even more of it.

Secondly, as Phrazz said, emphasizing differences between es and life, thou you can still acquire ES on hit from socketable jewels (but pitiful amounts) and two other sources.

Thirdly, on last paragraph's lines, you can make life potions to apply to ES via keystone from timeless jewel or unique Sulphur flask, which weirdly goes against second point and what ggg wanted.

Like, even if they would add this it would be terrible, because there is no good foundation for it. Unless for EB or hybrid build.

Hold up did you just state that ES is bad and ES on hit is even worse?

There's a reason ES on hit watchers eye is at least 9 ex by itself.
Aegis Aura - replenish ES when you block

How to block? Get hit.
Imo it is bad (especially after flask nerf), unless you are playing like one of the 3 builds where you actually have large ES pool . About price i dont know, it used to not cost that much, probably some meta build emerged making it 4 not 3 es builds i suppose.

Asking defences in 2021?
More of this, for ES?
And you even meant, for casters?
After they just stated NO to fortify, so no defences?

Why so sane, exile?
(Pun intended too)

ES has been overpowered when compared to life based builds for ages. There is a reason a majority of builds are either CI or low-life. Adding such a mechanic would only push ES further into almost being a mandatory survival element.
...narf
The reason there is no flat-ES-on-hit gem (since I'm assuming you know about Energy leech and aren't talking about that) is because it could be paired with Eldritch Battery to provide unlimited ability spam with no downside.

It's the same reason there is no flat-mana-on-hit support.
