Spectral Spirit from Essence of Insanity question

Do these 3 skulls stay with you all the time or they appear when you attack and then disappear after a short duration?

I am asking this because my Guardian wants 3 minions that won't disappear after a while like Purity/Absolution or die during tough battles like my two Golems. I just want 3 minions that follow me to keep my Onslaught on full time.

Any trick to keep Onslaught full time? I really dislike skeletons/zombies. I don't want to babysit them or re-summon them all the time. Just want to focus on Absolution/Purity.


1. If I use this Essence on a Convoking Wand, I have a chance for some minion damage and attack speed right?

2. If I link minion support gems in the Wand with spectral spirit, they get improved too?

3. If I dual wield two wands with Spectral Spirit, do I get 6 in total or limited to 3?

I've never used them but assuming the wiki is accurate, the minions stay around forever and are invulnerable. So it should work for what you want there.

3. Should get 6. Most minion skills with caps work this way where each skill has its own cap.

So I tested with two Wands with Spectral Spirit and I do get 6 of them!

My other question is do Added Damage to Fire in the weapon add to the Spectral? I saw a build using a Bow with added damage and 6-link gems for Spectral Spirit. I don't know why he would use a Bow instead of a Staff if he wants 6L. The Bow has some added damage. Unless it was his Quiver that he cares about?

Quiver, probably. If you don't care about the staff implicits then bows are strictly superior for casters due to having the extra item slot for stats.

But doesn't Staff give good spell stats? Nice Block and the minion damage on 2H is higher than 1H? like almost double?

A min-maxed bow will probably have an essence mod and the delve mods that give gem levels, which are equivalent for bows and staffs.

Staffs have some nice mods they can potentially get but they're very expensive to get alongside the other stuff you want.
