I did get my Cut-throat achievement finally after so many years.

LOL, cutthroat! That is why I did it, me and a scion blighted each other to death! LOL good enough for me :)
I will wear your ghost and you will die twice, against me and for me.
That is some cold blooded shit to say...

was BR a flop?

To soon too tell, but things to consider:

It's still rough around the edges, more fairly large changes will be made.

The game mode, in its current state, heavily rewards snowballing (using an early advantage to get a huge advantage, using your huge advantage to get an insurmountable advantage.

This heavily favors those who play a lot, imagine you having to try and beat Mathil1 at anything in this game but also he is double your level and has a 4 link to your 2 link.

With such a low amount of people playing, guess who is in every match you queue up for? Tryhards and streamers. This creates a negative feedback loop where people who only want to play a few games, like me, have a worse experience because there is no 'matchmaking' or ELO.

Compounding this, damage in PoE isn't very precise in its application so even if you wanted to 'team up' with other lvl 3 players to try and take down a lvl 7 player that's a very dicey proposition to actually pull off - how do you ensure you're not hitting the low level friends in your temporary alliance when your skills are either AoE spells or melee strikes that indiscriminately hit whatever is closest to them?

Other than an ever enlarging 'Rhoa Dinner' hideout decoration for winning, there is no meta progression system to feel rewarded about for participating or 'placing' in the top 5/10. I don't think BRs have to have this to be fun, but consider the audience, yeah?

They teased a team-based version of the mode, but no word yet on whether or not the player base at large will get that.
