Why bother doing bosses

There are never any good drops from early map bosses, so why bother when you have done them once.
There is just no incentive to do them, you risk losing 5 or 10% of your experience with no good loot drop, not even some good currency.
There are most likely other that have said the same, I can't the only one.
I am new to this, and I see no point at all.

Bosses have highest chance to drop a map. If you want to progress your Atlas you have to kill bosses.
Do the bosses you're confident with and skip the risky ones.
Risk vs reward.
Bosses give loot, but I guess it's more noticeble when you juice up the maps.

- map completion for conqueror tracking progress (after you have the first 16 watchstones)
- awakening completion bonus
- awakening levels boost boss drops a lot, even after 3.14 nerf
- shaper/elder guardian maps
- synthesis maps
- craftable watchstones have mods that can improve boss drops or add specific drops to them (scarabs, fossils, etc)

Of these, the first one is the main reason you'll need to beat bosses at first - since that's the only thing that counts as map 'completion'. When you need more than 3 maps to track a conqueror, the white squares in between only fill up when you kill the boss.
that too^^ xD
Also you have a chance to get a random master mission on killing the boss.
