Good ranged builds for Shadow?

Hey guys

Love the Shadow class, and really curious about if there are any good non-melee builds.

Lightning Arrow seems potent, and we're situated well to pick up some Elemental damage (though far from the 45% elemental weapon damage... if that even works).

Also super curious about a pure caster build, maybe something Ice-Spear to take advantage of our +cold damage and +crit positioning on the passive tree.

Any experts have opinions or builds they're enjoying?

aww was hoping for input. got all excited. :-/

trying a dagger/dagger build right now and definitely wishing I had a ranged build.
The Lightning arrow build does have some potential, especially since there is a 45% Lightning damage node very close by. 'Arcing Blows', from the name one would think this only works for melee weapons, but the description doesn't specify any further. So I'll just assume it's for ranged weaponry aswell.

Bonusses over your average lightning ranger:

-Accessable 5%, 6% and 8% elemental/lightning damage nodes.
-A 45% lightning damage node, which is not only very strong for the point cost, but very easy to access as well (4 points 'wasted').
-2% Mana Leech, no points wasted. So why not?

Large Disadvantages include:
- No Iron Reflexes, but perhaps Acrobabics is a good replacement? Haven't tried yet.
- Very hard to access bow damage and attack speed modifiers between duelist/ranger.


This is purely theoretical and just a rough draft, since I haven't played since reset. The 45% elemental damage is not far away at all, just a little further than the Ranger.

I posted the above, but I was unsure if the +5 % Elemental damage/Lightning damage would count for weapon damage as well. If that isn't the case disregard it completely. :p

Expanded upon it a little, still a rough draft. Main disadvantage is a low survivability/low atk speed. the bow damage/accuracy node can be dropped if needed. Plenty of 6% life nodes nearby, perhaps it could be worthwhile to get some resistance perks from the marauder tree.

Thanks!!!! I was totally checking out a ranger build and seeing how to modify it. The 45% lightning damage and the 45% elemental damage both felt tempting, but far away as you said.

Maybe if I skipped trying to get the Witch's Lightning damage area, that would free up some points.

Question though... Stuff like "Physical damage with bows"... is that before or after the Lightning Arrow conversion?

If lightning arrow is a 50/50 split or whatever, does that cut the physical damage contribution of those skills in half?
I think it's before, so I have my doubts about the use of the physical damage node while using Lightning Arrow.

Dropping the node might be a better idea.

Brings you closer to Acrobatics.. But a character without any armour at all.. that'll be very tough, you need a load of resistance for that.

Fact is though, this is all just theoretical. I fear once I try this build out in game I'll get my ass handed to me.

I think what's holding me off is how many points you have to spend (11ish) in the strength area to get those Elemental Damage with Weapons skills. It's a HUGE amount (105% or something) but darn if that isn't a million miles away.
