Issue with CWDT + Vaal Molten Shell (solved)

I've found a temporary fix to my issue, but the bug continues to persist when re-logging.



I have a CWDT linked to Vaal Molten Shell, Blood Rage, and Increased duration support. CWDT is level 6 (supports level 48 and lower gems), Vaal Molten Shell is level 13 (requires level 48), blood rage is level 9 (requires level 43).

I originally used Molten Shell while leveling and never had any issues after equipping it to CWDT. On getting the Adamant passive (remove corrupted blood when you use a guard skill), I purchased a Vaal molten shell and replaced the standard one to have a way to activate the blood removal (since it presumably doesn't work on triggered abilities).

CWDT continued to work with Vaal Molten Shell without issue until it hit level 13, at which point it suddenly stopped functioning. After messing around with it for a little while, I found that removing my gloves (with aforementioned links), my body armor (vengeance, melee physical, blind, maim), and boots (leap slam, faster attacks, pride, war banner) and immediately re-equipping them causes CWDT to function as intended.


Since then I've noticed that every time I log out, I have to remove and re-equip the gear to get the CWDT molten shell working again. Blood rage always functions as intended.


It seems like a weird edge scenario because I'm not actually changing anything in my gear, just "resetting the skills" so to speak.

After further testing I can confirm that what's causing the issue is War Banner. While War Banner is active, CWDT Vaal Molten Shell will not activate.

Re-equipping my gear was just turning my auras off, which is why the issue was "fixed" temporarily.

Is anybody else able to test this and see if it's working for them?

Do you have enough mana to cast Molten Shell with your mana reservations active?

You are 100% correct, I forgot triggered abilities use mana now. Using Banner is getting me just under the required amount. Thank you!
