Is it true that mark on hit stuff uses mana now?

I think in this case not, because vul on hit is a curse that is not triggered, hence no mana cost. As far as I understand, the mana cost is only applied when it says "trigger x on hit" not "curse x on hit". But I may be completely wrong here.

Anyway, I think this shows that there are many changes that people will figure out on the fly during the first week in. Its really a bumper for theorycrafting.

If that is true, most of the curse on hit items will be completely useless, wont they?
I wouldn't be so worried.

It would appear that the change is more for Support gems that cause a trigger only.

For instance Mjolner doesn't cost extra mana according to the patch notes.

Socketed Lightning Spells triggered by Mjölner now have a 0% Cost and Reservation Multiplier (they have no cost!).


That is not to say there will not be 'defects' and changes later.

Need to test using Poet's Pen. I could be wrong.

I've just checked the stuff a second time. Even for rings we got 2 different wordings:
"Curse Enemies with Vulnerability on Hit, with #% increased Effect" - should be safe
"Trigger Level # Poacher's Mark when you Hit a Rare or Unique Enemy" - should cause mana problems

/edit: If it works as I assume right now, hexes on rings are fine, but marks aren't, we are in a weird position here. My first call would be "GGG fix the mark on hit soon". but then I'm asking myself if there are any interactions that take adavantage out of this.
