They killed off one of the most popular builds for newbies...shak's vortex is pretty much dead as well.

and why exactly are you assuming that? because he used archmage? because the build didnt exist before that? i wounder what your reason behind this is, if there is any at all.
its not like he has backups or something, not like he plays that build himself for many years and know how do adapt to changes or anything

he litteraly already has a hirophant version up, with the same purpose as the witch, a totaly helpfull beginner guide instead of arc witch its arc hirophant now, and he litteraly left you with a link and a note saying that he might revive it later on, builds change now learn to deal with it, his arc elementalist once was a arc necromancer for quite some time.

His build isn't OP but his guide and support to new players made it one of the best places to start with PoE.

Archmage is going to be insane. Why all the hate for it? They massively buffed it.

Some passives relating to it were reduced and the gem itself was nerfed but they had to, because with all the huge mana increases on every support, Archmage supported spells would have been impossible to cast by sheer mana cost.

Its not buffed but it isn't dead, the mana regen changes are actually the biggest thing hindering Archmage in the patch not the value changes specifically.
