Campaign should only be a 1 time thing

It ruins the replayability of your game. With limited builds actually being able to do endgame content, we find ourselves being suckered into making a new character after putting so much work into a build that doesn't meet the bar for certain content.
Only to find we have to put another X amount of hours into the campaign again, and again, and again. It's stale, it's boring, and it's an old mechanic that should of been thrown away years ago. Want people to stick around longer than the first 2 weeks on a new league? Stop gatekeeping our time vs rerolling characters. All these changes you make to the game, good or bad, would be way less of a problem if we didn't have to waste our time in an awful campaign over and over again to try out a new build. Solutions: -Allow us to rush campaign like we did back in the day -Make all waypoints league-wide, meaning if I all waypoints on one character, I'll have them on a new character that was just created -Allow use of the map device on alts that haven't completed the required quest state like how it used to be I just want to say that if you watch the show "Loki", GGG is the TVA and they're crushing everything into one path. The waypoint idea would be great quality of life solution.
I want to try some of the many different builds but going through the campaign again ouch! Find myself watching youtube build ideas instead of actually playing the game.. |

I agree with this. Having played this game for 9 years now, going through the story for the 100+ time is so goddamn painful...
Adopt a D3-esque strategy and make the replay of the story somewhat more interesting with differing goals or progression. You'll have to level up the new character anyway somehow but GGG could come up with a creative way to do that outside of running the ENTIRE story over again. That is such an early-2000s game design and not at all modern. |

I have to agree with this. For the first char in the league I totally understand why I would need to go through the campaign but it is such a chore to do it for char 2 or 3. We are not all ty ty killer speed demons. Other options for leveling could be delve until you reach level 68 without sulphite cost. That worked great during the delve event. I just find it boring playing the campaign over and over again for no real reason.
What if you could pay an exalt at a vendor to skip the leveling of the 2 char. 2ex for the third. I wouldn't make much more pricey though. I am sure you have dev scripts to do exactly that for testing so technically it shouldn't be to hard to implement. |

The idea is great, i don't really mind personaly to do the campaign more then once because i love it but still, i really think that it would take few effort to solve this for our dev and it would not affect those who want to do the campaign all over again.

I've barely played for a year for this exact reason.
Im so tired of rushing through campaign. I dont mind trials and lab, but spending several hours on campaign is killing it for me. Especially because I like to do multiple characters, and it seems designed to waste as much time as possible, for 1-character type of player. Unfortunately an alternative might be just like trade and single player... something GGG doesnt want to ever do. Which reminds me, I've barely read patch notes since forever, have they removed the XP penalty when you are not being carried and face against enemies with more than 5 levels above you? that's some inexcusable railroading, if one is capable of doing much harder content, they shouldnt be penalized for it. yea Campaign kills the replayability of this game big-time. I bet many players who drop off after 1-2 months in a league do so party because they can't be bothered to spend the hours / days (non-rushers) it takes to get through the story AGAIN.
In the past circa 1.0-2.0, GGG never shied away from adding or changing core gameplay. They added act 4, then Acts 5-10, then expanded endgame with elder/shaper and more maps, etc. What they need now is NOT just a standalone league mechanic that ADDs to the game, but rather a league mechanic that CHANGES the core game for the better. I think GGG could look critically at easing the ability to create new characters and making it more interesting to do |

I would love the "late to the party" checkbox when creating a new character after unlocking the maps for the first time each league.
All it needs to do is to - keep waypoints unlocked - have all quests in completed state so no extra rewards - give extra passive skill points with levels like it was in endless delve, same with resist penalty - maybe keep a bandit reward as a dialogue option to chose from on the old guy in the forest encampment This way, while it would still require going through some story locations for exp, players would be at least allowed to skip annoying story fetch quests. |
