How to trade safely a Mirror of Kalandra vs. 850-880 Exalted Orbs ?

Hi,

1 Mirror or Kalandra goes for around 850-880 Exalted Orbs at the moment in Standard (depending if you actively look for a seller, or wait for an offer).

However, in both cases, the inventory can contain only 600 Exalted Orbs at best.

So, what would be the safest way to proceed for such a transaction ?

You get a trusted middleman that takes the currency from both players and transfers them safely.
The safest way would be to buy mirror shards instead. I have not checked whether the total price would be significantly higher than that of a mirror, but usually it should be around the same.

I respectfully must disagree that there is such a thing as a trusted middleman.

Do you know where this man lives? Where his kids go to school? He is just an online name with 'other' accounts verifying this in a game where you can create accounts for free.

Trade for the cards.
What, do you only trust people you can physically threaten?

Typically trusted 3rd parties are trusted because they make more money in the long run from their status than they would from a single big scam.

There are quite a few of them actually. If you ask a high profile streamer to be the middle-man they just might do it for you.
Shards and Divination Cards seem to be the best solution.
I suppose they've been created for that purpose after all (i.e. acquiring a very rare item gradually).

I suppose that a trusted third-party would want a (well-deserved) fee for his time/effort/risk taken. But maybe also that the price of a full stack of Shards/Divination Cards exceed the price of a mirror, so all in all it would be the same...

I dont threaten people, but having skin in the game usually makes people more reliable than an online name they can recreate in hours.

Regarding status, if you do 19/20 transactions correctly, you can claim the 20th was the other guy trying to scam you "He's pretending he gave me a mirror so he can get one from me for free, telling me he will ruin my reputation if I dont give him one".

People then believe the one with status.

That's precisely why to "cause harm to the reputation of others" is not allowed
