Physical Overwhelm reduces Physical DoT?

Going to jigger around with PoB and see what it spits out with regard to Overwhelm.

I have a pretty good sense of humor. I'm not German.

Is it true that +Physical Damage % in skill passives only increase Physical hit and not Physical DoT?

I am talking about the skill cluster notes with Vanquisher.


I am using exsanguinate and I know while the big damage is from stacking dot, I find that I need more health leech from the initial hit.

when it says just "physical damage" it works with everything.

Beware mods that specify damage types, like "melee","attack","weapon".. these apply to attack hits only

The reason I asked because the same skill cluster also has two 6% Physical DoT Multiplier. I am not sure if 12% Physical damage is better than 10% Overwhelm.

If Physical Damage increases both Hit and DoT, then why would anyone take those two 6% Multiplier? Unless Multiplier adds more damage than a simple 10% physical damage? Do you know the math behind Multiplier?

Most of the Multiplier on jewels are only up to 4%. It seems rather small increase and yet you can get 12-14% on Physical damage to spell.

when it does not specify, it affects everything. attacks, spells, DoTs and even secondary damage like ie from on kill explosions

there is no magic in DoT multiplier calculations. Its just another damage multiplier. In most scenarios, 5% DoT multi is much better than 10% increased damage, because DoT multi is much rarer stat. People often have hundreds of increased damage so stacking it further is not that effective..

Ok. Exsanguinate can only stack up to 3 times. I kind of like the extra life leeching due to overwhelm reducing Physical hit.
