Network issues....

Whenever someone on my network downloads something the game stutters like hell on my end with unplayable lag spikes, even when I limit their connection (reserving 50%+ bandwidth out of 100mbps, optical fiber, PC connected to router through cable), PoE is the only game so far that has been giving me headaches when it comes to lag spikes.

Most recently, my brother just watching a Youtube video and I just couldn't play because apparently the way the game sends/receives packets seems a bit f'ed up.

The game doesn't have its own unique way of sending or receiving packets.

Your issue is packet loss beginning on hop #2. Show the log to your ISP.
I find it difficult to justify optional purchases to support a Tencent-owned development studio that declines to provide customers Technical Support, regardless of how many thousands of euros that customer has spent...
The latency seems to have stabilized in the last hour or so.

But why is PoE the only game that has a tremendous difficulty handling this?

I can provide a list of games that I play and have 0 lag issues, games where even with 200ms latency it just plays fine.

Because the way GGG made the network "protocol" it's really can't handle packet loss, latency or WiFi connections......

Wow, thanks for the detailed technical explanation...

feel free to contact Johnathan about it if you think you will be getting a better reply.

I have been here since closed beta and PoE network kernal have been a major issue since then. Many people with very high TECH knowledge sent lots of proof to GGG about this but the answer was always the same. Wrong we know what we are doing.....
Then suddenly several years ago, a big patch was announced and released to "optimize and fix" the network kernal --> this was when lockstep and predictive network modes was introduced to the game.
It really helped alot but still there is a general "issue" --> the PoE client can't really handle packet loss, latency spikes or local WiFi connection (mostly because WiFi gives latency spikes / packet loss)......

But again, your WinMTR clarly shows ISP problems so GL with it Exile.
Yeh, I know probably GGG won't say a thing about it, but It's always worth the shot to ask, on the meantime been reading some stuff from folks who have reversed engineered its protocol.

I guess the issue wasn't on my end after all, Currently on a symmetric 1gbps, different ISP which even has better routes compared to my previous one, and this issue is still present, there are many other reports that talk about this exact same issue, considering the amount of calculations the servers have to make, GGG should probably start thinking about debloating the game.

You are, of course, welcome to take the WinMTR log from the OP to any forum or subreddit, tell them you're having issues playing online games, and see what other opinions you get. I am literally a Network Engineer and you posted black-and-white evidence of substantial packet loss.

It was on your end.

That's faster than my own connection and I'm envious of your file downlaod & upload speeds. But games don't care. They're only interested in your latency and your packet loss; not in that order.

I know games don't care about speed, but obviously someone would definitely come and blame the speed, hence why I referenced it, as for the pl, currently with no pl and yet the issue is still present, so it wasn't and still isn't a pl issue.

The router is able to handle whatever connections get through it, even when it reaches around 65k active connections it handles them properly and currently at around 16k~18k active connection with PoE running I don't expect issues.

From what I see the routing goes through OVH (Paris server at least), compared to previous routes which passed through Telia it is much stable now, hope Norlys manages to fix whatever fuck ups Telia was doing.

Anyway, not gonna waste more time on this, at least for now, might dig further into it later.
