Basilisk acid missing

Running Act 9 in a party with another friend, was doing the quest, Recurring Nightmare, and I decided to go for the Trarthan Powder while my friend went for the Basilisk Acid, he had killed the Basilisk before I reached the Trarthan Powder so I went to his area to pick up it, but the quest item was missing.
Despite leaving the party and going to Boiling Lake again, the boss never respawned for me, and neither could I start a new instance as Boiling Lake doesn't have a waypoint. Is there any way to reset this boss or quest?

no bugs here, boss was killed when you weren't there, you don't need a waypoint just go back to the zone before it and ctrl click the boiling lake to create a new instance.
