Why do Delves not drop loot?

Didn't they buff it in 3.14 in lower depths. So for new players like this guy?

Or was it always a waste of time?

No.
Delve freshly obliterated with 3.14 rework.

There's the mention in the patch notes. Looks like buff for most players who never go past depth 300.

Delve Changes
Delve has been rebalanced in a way that makes better rewards appear earlier and more frequently at shallow depths. Very deep depths no longer provide such an exponential increase to the rate of encountering high-tier rewards.

I mean, seriously though. I'm at around depth 150, just hit monster level 83. I feel like the time I've spent delving has been a complete and absolute waste. Do things start to improve as I progress further? I kind of figured that once I reached the monster level of Tier16 maps that I'd start seeing *something*.

I think I Delved for about an hour last night and got maybe 5 or 10 chaos worth of loot, total.

I never bothered with Delve much before, I tend to focus on the main content. I never played during Heist, Delve, Beastiary, and several other leagues so I tend not to mess around with their content much. This time I was like OK, let's figure out Delve league mechanics. Feelsbadman.

Delve is complete garbage and has been for a long time. If you want to waste your time, continue to delve.

People in this thread make it sound like darkness and fractured wall farming is good. It's not.
At intermediate delving(400-800 depth) you'll find around 2-3 fractured walls running really long juicy delve nodes.
Behind these walls you'll be lucky the find 1-2 fossil nodes and each node usually holds 1-2 fossils.

Problem is, these fossils are ~2 chaos each.
This is absolutely horrific chaos per hour. Alot of testing has been done and you'll be lucky to break 100 chaos/hour if you're delving correctly. Just run Heist contracts instead. From opening one small currency chest in a Heist contract you'll be making more money than you do from 15 minute of delving.

Exactly. It's your word against the developers. I'll believe the developers until proven otherwise.

Not rly. Devs are making good work, they just not test it properly.
So, they quite frequently dont even know what happens in their game further Act2 where it seems testing ends.

And, returning to post subj.
Im not the only one who feels delve in now worthless and not drop loot.
Because I experienced it alot in this league and can operate field data I have.
People compare their drops to the items they pick out of the trade site. You're comparing your drops to 1 in a million drops... so of course they're inferior.

The items you look at have been selected from 1000s that got through an item filter that is only showing one in a thousand items to begin with. Then you ignore all of the "trash" when you filter the trade site. 1 in a million is generous.

You simply can't expect to beat that.
GGG really should only allow fossils to come from Delve and not Ritual,Ultis,Blights etc.

I wouldn't go that far. Just make Delve the best place to go for fossils, rather than the other sources. I'd go with doubling Delve and halving the rest.
I had decent returns so far from casually delving this league, stuff like spectre armour, curse rings and decent mid tier fossils weren't hard to find and I got the usual stuff in the side areas like some occasional raw ex, a bunch of prime resonators and heaps of random mid tier currency. Common stuff like scorched and dense fossils are always popular and easy to sell in bulk for ex too. This was from mostly going straight down to about 400 in a few delve sessions, it probably wasn't the best returns in terms of currency/hour compared to meta farming strats but I invested almost nothing (maybe 2 ex of cheap scarabs and some t16 maps) so it's fine risk/reward if you have some free time to sink into it (I personally find delve relaxing).

Only thing I noticed and don't like about new delve scaling so far is that bestiary and physical nodes seem a lot less common at the 300+ range which annoys me because aspect and vulnerability on hit jewellery is good money but I might just be unlucky and nothing actually changed with the spawn rate.
Hate to ask you to explain, but how do you work "casually delving" and "straight down to level 400 or so" into the same thought?
