Windows Power Saving (monitor sleep mode) stalls game for looooong time if it triggers
|
Path of Exile does not seem to do anything to stop Windows Power Saving features from triggering, such as the monitor entering Sleep Mode when the system is idle. Most games will send fake input commands to prevent Power Saving from triggering.
If the monitor does turn off, when you come back to the computer and move the mouse to wake the display the game will be stuck displaying a single image and be unresponsive to most interactions. After a very long wait the game will recover with you either still logged in or you'll be disconnected and back at the title screen. Game is originally running in Fullscreen Exclusive. " So i gotta go through the hassle of opening up the Windows Power Saving settings and changing them when I want to play Path of Exile and to save time leave the configuration window open to quickly re-enable the settings when I finish playing the game? Sounds pretty shitty when you consider no other game in 30+ years that I've played have these issues when Power Saving triggers the monitor to turn off (most of them don't allow power saving to trigger in the first place). I set Windows to turn off the monitor after 5 minutes of inactivity. " noone is forcing you to use any of GGG's services...... However since this is not a bug, you should have posted this in the feedback section.... Last edited by HanSoloDK#4843 on May 17, 2021, 3:06:05 PM

How is it not a bug? The game misbehaves when using a popular power saving feature that's existed for decades and doesn't cause issues in other software.
