Cluster jewel farming is frustrating

Shouldn't a delirium mirror or map give at least 1-2 jewels per encounter?

Yes, it should.

Actually Heist is a very good way to farm cluster jewels (you can also deterministically choose their drop level form lvl 67 up to lvl 83, which can be relevant for some specific notable combinations)

It is also very SSF viable this league since Heist is on the map device for 6 chaos, which is very affordable I feel. I made good money this league from target farming various cluster jewel bases from heist.

This is a strategy you can do (requires some effort to set it up):
Spoiler
- level up all your rogues minimum to level 4
- complete all green quest contracts but 2 specific one which you leave uncompleted ("Grocery List" and "The Rescue", for the second one you must progress the main quest line to that point)
- If you have everything else completed up to that point, it is time to get some nice Heist equipment for your bro Vindiri (also level him up to lvl 5)

Heist Rogue Equipment recommendations:
Spoiler
- Brooch: chance to duplicate Delirium Orbs/Catalysts
- Cloak: reduced amount of alert level opening chests
- Tool: chance to not generate Alert level opening chests
- Gear: not needed, go for whatever

- now get yourself a nice Thief's Trinket on top if you want to go with it (% chance for Delirium Orbs, % chance for catalysts etc.)

Now you have everything you need to make profit while farming Heist to afford the craft on the map device.

Step 1) Run maps in Lira Arthain with "Secret Stash" and "Inside Job" atlas passives

Step 2) Each map you open with the Heist map device craft will have at leasst 2 smugglers stashes (or 3 if you are lucky)

Step 3) Each time you open a smugglers stash, the game checks what quest contracts you have not completed yet and drops at least one of them for you - since we have 2 specific quests uncompleted and everything else completed, we get 2 quest contracts from every map we run with the Heist modifier!

Step 4) One of the contracts is Vindiri's "Grocery List" contract, which is always a Demolition contract by nature (Demolition contracts can spawn Metamorph, Blight and Delirium chests). If you run maps with at least lvl 80 or higher, you will get 3 chests at random in your contract. The second quest contract "The Rescue" is a special main quest lock picking contract, which spawns currency and fragment chests, which you can run to regain some chaos and other currency to fuel your map device.

Step 5) Run the contracts, open as many chests as you can without triggering alarm (The Rescue is a special one, that does not trigger alert level, so you can open every chest in there)

Step 6) Leave the contract without getting the main objective and triggering alarm and thereby fail it on purpose (you still reap all the rewards from chests and just leave)

Step 7) start any other contract to close the portal to the quest contract (quest contract is now considered failed)

Step 8) Since you did not complete the quest contract, it will drop again on when you open your next smugglers stash. The quest contract level always is the level of the area the smugglers stash is opened (so you can choose the ilvl) - all loot from chests in Heist is equal to the contract level.

Step 9) Choose the cluster jewel level you want and run maps on that level with the Heist map device craft to gather "Grocery List" contracts, one by one, open chests and get out early without triggering the alarm, failing the quest on purpose - use "The Rescue" to fuel your efforts with the currency drops there.

Step 10) you will get good amounts of cluster jewels of all variations doing that (some of them will get doubled thanks to Vindiris ability), you will also get catalysts and delirium orbs out of it which you can sell for profit, as well as the cluster jewels you do not need.

You can do this in SSF; it is practically not doing full heist since you just grab the chests and leave without much risk involved (good for HC even) and you are still mapping 50% of the time, so it doesn't get boring too quick I felt.

I don't say this is perfect, and the game should be played this way, but you can do it since it does not break any rules to do so. If GGG does not give us enough Delirium rewards and nerf delirium orb drop rate; players will always find a way.

Thanks for sharing :) Yeah i've been running every single demolition contract, they're definitely a much better source for cluster jewels than delirium maps/mirros (ironically even after 3.14 changes). Guess I should focus on doing more lira arthain to drop more contracts, since trying to get them through other means is not working out very well. Unfortunately I didn't know about the strategy with the green contracts and have already finished them so can't use that method. But it will be super useful for next league so tyvm for that!

I guess its one of those scenarios where I'm actively looking for something so its never gonna drop lol. And getting 2/4 of them seems pretty much impossible at this rate

I could swear I've had dozens of cluster jewels from ultimatum, even if I get delirious maps maybe twice as often.
So it isn't as if it isn't in the drop pool at all, although still frustrating if trying to get a specific one.

I got 1 or 2 large clusters from ultimatum as well, but that's about it. I think the issue is not just the availability of clusters since I have around 2 stash tabs full of them.

The problem is not being able to reroll the base type other than using the 5:1 recipe. Given that there are so many different bases it's very hard to find the right base, forget about finding one with less no. of passives.

I don't see the harm in letting us reroll the base type/no. of passives with a blessed orb. This will obviously also reroll the explicits on the jewel as well, so the only use case for it will be to change the base. Even a harvest craft or something similar would be fine.

There are so many fun interactions and build possibilities with clusters that its a shame that they're so hard to get without trading.
