Depends a lot on your budget. On the high end there are Cold BV Pathfinders and Aurastackers. Budget would be Lacerate Gladiator, Champion with any sort of Slam and stuff like Bladeblast Chieftain or HOA Guadians can also be very tough.

budget is low,do you know a proven guide for the builds suggested?
i can see a guide saying the build is tanky in the title then it says not HC viable in the description
some guides are made by people who never played hc so not sure how viable they are aswell

I don't follow guides so i can't really vouch for anything but this seems solid:

https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2910945 Bladeblast Chieftain

For EQ/Lacerate/Bladestorm Gladiators and Champions I'd check POE Ninja and see what people do there. Can't find anything here on the form that i'd want to recommend.

/edit Here is a Champion build that looks ok

thanks!
This guide's author (CA Raider) claims to play HC every league (or at least most of 'em).
currently trying his build in HC SSF (on my SSF acc.), smooth sailing so far (Act 4).
relax - it's just ones and zeros!
Archmage raider bfbb is extremely tanky and definitely ssf viable. Just look up some of the builds on hc on poe.ninja and copy the tree. Gearing is very straight forward, just get items with life, mana and res for cap. No uniques or specific influenced gear needed, although cloak of defiance, essence worm and crown of the inward eye are big for the build. You are gonna have to level until 65-70 or so as something else tho, since early leveling as a caster ranger is pretty bad. I suggest toxic rain, mines or self cast through campaign then respec in act 10 or something.

This build got 4th place in the last gauntlet, so its proven to be great

I just leveled a Lacerate Gladiator based on the LACERMAN build guide. As a pretty careless player I was surprised to not die or even come close during campaign. Only died once so far, at level 83, due to gross inattention (bleed after combat over). Not advertised as hardcore viable, but apparently stays alive well. Mine doesn't even have any chaos resist yet.

My best survivalist is an old max-immune CI HOWA Jugg build that uses Blade Flurry or Reave. Unfortunately not updated since 3.6.
HC is mostly about preparation during the campaign and avoiding mega rippy map mods later and a bit of game knowledge.

I would recommend a 1h+shield jugg groundslam build, yes it is melee, but overall nothing beats a jugg if you just want defenses on 0 budget and the warcries by themselves can carry a build quite far.

I've been playing in ssfhc for the last few days and I'm almost done with the campaign without seeing my life pool move.

Make sure you have evasion as well either from a flask or run Grace, or ideally both.

As for armor you should prioritize it for the gear and put molten shell in place of your left click instead of using it on a cwdt setup, it is way more consistent this way.

It also pretty much permastuns anything you hit, even some bosses.

I would advise trying normal ssf first if you only played sc trade so far as that is a fairly good way to acquire some extra game knowledge you will need later if you want to play hc
