Ultimatum scales badly in endgame
Not even one week in and Im already not doing half of encounter types.
While protect and kill waves of enemies encounter types are fun - they balance properly between ability to brute-force with dps and risk of dying. However same cannot be said about "survive" and "stay in rings". Mentioned mechanic types are simply unfun and balanced wrongly. PoE is a game well known for lack of any type of balance. No matter how many layers on defenses you have you are still bound to die. Especially when you are locked in very small area with many rare monsters and other environmental effects. And all of this if fine. Ultimatum is all about risk and rewards. Wait. Rewards? There are no rewards. If we work under assumption that we can succesfully finish all Ultimatum encounters from start to finish we are still losing currency gained per hour. This includes protect and kill waves of enemies encounter types but at least these encounters are fun to do. Half of Ultimatum encounters are far too long and annoying to do (especially "stay in circle"). Doing them is very risky and completing them grants us neither maps nor worthy amount of currency. GGG fix pls. Side note /played ~about 3 days. I found 0 delirium orbs. I know that some people claimed that they want "specific league mechanic" to be best source of "league related items" but come on. sadly MOST of time if not all time i see and try ult its rly bad reward but hey sooner streamer will show HH, mirrors, 2-10ex stack, some crazy rares, etc and we all will belive its fair reward

Something to keep in mind when watching those streamers who get those crazy rewards:
1 - They play 12-16 hours a day, so just for time spent they are 4-5 times more likely to get them than we are. 2 - They have a ton of crazy gear and are probably clearing content 2-3 times faster than we are, so again, 2-3 time as likely to see the crazy rewards. 2 - A lot of times those rewards are from a viewers map that they invite the streamer into to make the video. And some streamers have thousands of viewers. So when you look at it objectively, Streamers are tens of thousand of times more likely to find some crazy reward than your average player. |

Its the same thing as ritual. So many people on the forums claimed how it is unrewarding and they don't do it yet I found it a perfectly good source of currency.

GGG trying new things is nice but if they tell me that new content based on a new trend of "win or lose it all": 1)Disturb a flow of running map and 2)is highly inefficient then I ask why would i want to interact with any of that? Based on my experience main rewards of Ultimatum are: orb of bindings, regret orbs, alchs, 6-sockets from "loot explosion", vaals, random rares and sometimes few chaos orbs. This rewards are neither interesting nor worth enough to compensate time invested with returns. |

" Blight and heist come to my mind. Both were raining curency, and league encounters were also way more fun to interact with. Risk-reward ratio was incomparably better. Ultimatum appear to be rehashed ritual, hence the tedious running in tight circles for trash rewards most of the time. Nearly full copy of mechanics and reward distribution. GGG can't always be super creative and that's normal, especially with this schedule. But they could come out with a different league design, rather than copy-paste of the previous league. They could do that next league and it would be fine. This is a buff © 2016

I can't really talk about Heist. I hate waiting in front of doors and traps so no matter what I am unable to play it.

Are you winning consecutively, like 5 maps in a row? Is the task master pissed off that he cannot beat you? Been to round 9? Been to round 10? The mechanic is really cool and the loot distribution is weird... but its definitely not "Bad". You might just not be going hard enough tbh I have never felt further from what I know and love
