new Corrupting Blood - why? whats the point?
well.. i do not think that change is good nor do i think that this mechanic needed a change in the first place
CB inflicted by mobs (both 'on hit' and 'on death') kinda deals 'random' damage. Maybe it is because i got used to old values, maybe. But current implementation and damage delivery (phys dot) makes it VERY strong. That alone is not a problem, there are plenty of mechanics like that. So whats makes it problematic? - random application. mobs that can apply this look like any other rare/blue pack. nothing significant about them. you dont read mob stats (nor look at them) in 2021.. big issue for a mechanic that can nuke you from orbit, by far the strongest rare/blue pack ability. - random value and/or frequency application. some big scary mobs apply corrupting fluffs, some seemingly harmless will nuke you with just one orb. huh? wasnt fixing that the goal of this change? well, kinda does not work yet - no reliable defence/mitigation. the only thing that works is flat phys reduction and there are just a few sources of that: end charges, arctic armour, few low% rolls on gear and one or two ascendancies. - (life) regen IS NOT a defence here. maybe in Act6. not in modded map. not when you instantly get 10 stacks from nuking a blue pack. - on the other hand, one (expensive and i think made much rarer this league) roll on a rare jewel 'solves' this problem completely so in effect this creates yet another FIXED checkbox character has to tick for it to work, checkbox that - excluding endu stacking jugg - has just one 'solution': get a crap jewel with proper corruption I have no idea why this mechanic exists in current state. It is boring, extremely one dimensional and (so far) badly if at all balanced. It ignores all regular defensive layers, it is not telegraphed at all and the visual/sound cues wouldnt be considered enough in 2016, in 2021 they might as well not exist, too subtle for the visual clusterf.. this game is nowadays similar story the other way around. Players can now apply corrupted blood.. with storm brand. seriously? this should be hotfixed instantly and made attack-application only. otherwise it just sucks designwise. i know it is here to balance out bleed attack builds.. kinda missed the point. noone plays phys bleed builds - spells just are much better entire 'corrupting blood' mechanic rework gets a solid 2/10 from me, needs a rework Last bumped on Apr 22, 2021, 1:42:07 AM
