Characters are gone

I join the path of exile website and when i did it i didnt log in with steam i created a account with my new email and linked my steam account to it and when i recently logged out to main log in screen in the game To go do something. Then when i came back and logged in all my characters were gone is there a way to recover them as i have alot of items in the hardcore league idk if this is the reason to it but please help.

You just link the accounts wrong.
sent email to GGG support to fix it instruction https://www.pathofexile.com/support (meanwhile the correct way is just login the website using steam and then after you login, you add email and make sure that email has no POE account previously attached to it) This is the start of forum signature: I am not a GGG employee. I emailed them with my steam account name and like 3 of my character names i cant really remember them but just to wait now.
