Streamer priority confirmed. PoE is free to play, so play it for free, but Boycott GGG.
" TLDR: 8-9 years ago I spent upwards of $25,000 supporting a fucking video game thinking I would get some sort of say in the direction of the game and I would be special but I didn't and I'm still incredibly bitter and butthurt about it and will never let it go. Yup, no more packs for me.
Beware of the man who works hard to learn something, learns it, and finds himself no wiser than before. He is full of murderous resentment of people who are ignorant without having come by their ignorance the hard way.

Thankfully the new armors look kinda meh so I didn't get a pack this time round.

just downvote the game on steam, this is is the only way you can punish them. when enough people do that and the rating goes down to mostly negative they will start to care. or call the valve head office to change the rating manually ...

" I'm doing this for years now. Got all my relevant stash tabs and dont see any point pumping in more $$ unless the game feels spectacularly different in regards of QoL, monster/boss design and server/client performance. Since i dont see that changing any time soon i will keep it this way. Edit: -------------------- " Makes it even more fun after this priority thingy. It shows the root of the problem ,since years, which are their servers at league launch. I guess ther inital intention was to honeycoat it with special treatment and servers (to get high twitch counts of a good running game) but even thet is apparently not enough to keep this bubble alive. Funny times indeed and a nice GGG post incoming the next few days. Maybe even a rollback after explaining their usualy things. Masterpiece of 3.16 lore "A mysterious figure appears out of nowhere, trying to escape from something you can't see. She hands you a rusty-looking device called the Blood Crucible and urges you to implant it into your body." Only usable with Ethanol Flasks Last edited by gandhar0#5532 on Apr 17, 2021, 4:50:10 AM

I fully agree with the opinions previously expressed by exiles. If they manipulate the input queue, what other things are they manipulating in favor of the streamers? For my part, the supported packs are over and I'm going to stop following the streamers that I follow

Cry babies. This has been the worst launch yet.. Some may not have the professional experience to be able to articulate issues and report them back accurately or have the connection or Rig.
Do you honestly want to spend hours online rebooting???? Think about it... You are on Tech support.. If you perform this job IRL it sucks.. Now you want to complain b/c someone else has to do it?? No, I'm not in Tech support. STFU!! |

I see streamers are regarded as collateral damage.

I don't know if they are collateral damage. I'm just saying GGG can't have 20k peeps spamming their forums with issues. So they most likely focused in a a select few (and it would suck to be one of them). I come here to play not figure out other companies issues. With that said I applaud everyone involved in getting the game back up and running...

Let me just point out that I didn't call for this sort of action once, not once, in all this time. Not even when GGG sold out to Tencent. That was just business, and it was good business. My stance was, somewhat echoing what I was told, 'keep supporting if you love this game because that's how to ensure it remains GGG's baby and not Tencent's cash grab' -- and when they said nothing would change, I mostly believed it.
But even with GGG's explanation now up, their expression of regret, their attempt at solidarity with 'we're not happy either', it's clear that money motivated this, entirely. They paid for popular streamers to pimp their new league, knowing full-well that their servers don't exactly have a great track record on launch day, and then panicked when there were, gasp, server issues. Of course they let them in. They had to. It's rare that one can see a correct course in these situations, but there was one here: don't fucking pay for advertising via streamers when you already have streamers doing it for free, and don't do it promising X hours of gameplay time on launch day when you've never...ever had a smooth launch day. So instead of 'literally setting a big pile of money on fire', they did exactly what I said they did, what others have said: they chose profits over people. Of course they did. They're a business. I don't believe, even now, that this has been going on before. That there has been streamer RNG or server priority all this time. I think GGG painted themselves into a really bad corner this time. I also believe they won't do it again. And this doesn't in any way, shape or form give me reason to recant my original call to action. It's a free to play game. Play it for free. You are, you now know, a 'literal pile of money' in their eyes. They will choose that pile of money over you. If not in the same way again, in some other way. This was, I hope, proof of that. That is all. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.
I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period. |
